| Queen Charlotte | Thinking of a BC loop trip next summer, need advice Posted: Fri October 15, 2004 10:10 AM UTC
Hey all,
I'm coming home to BC next summer, and my boyfriend and I want to do some touring. We want to go up to the Queen Charlottes, and possibly take a ferry to Vancouver Island. Questions: 1) Has anybody done a recent trip to the Queen Charlottes? How did you go? What do you recommend seeing? Any difficulties with accomodation/transportation? 2) Has anybody ever taken a ferry from the Queen Charlottes to the Island/Lower Mainland? Did they enjoy the trip? Were there any stops along the way? (I'll be checking about this more on the BC Ferries website, so don't worry about that info) Cheers all! Amanda |

I've been to QCI seven times all told.
The Ferry to QCI leaves from Prince Rupert, the Ferry to Prince Rupert leaves from Port Hardy and you require a night in PR to make the connection. www.bcferries.com.I have gone from PH to PH overnighted and then flown to QCI-a long trip from Vancouver. My advice is to fly to Sandspit, rent a car and take the Ferry @ Alliford Bay to Graham Island as there's not a lot of road on Moresby Island. There is no public transport on QCI that I have ever seen/heard of but hitchhiking is common and safe. Once on Graham you can connect with some of the many Guesthouses/B&B's/motels and explore the island. There's lots to see/do for outdoorsy people too much to list here. While on the BC Ferries site do a search on the Discovery Coast Ferry-an interesting if rustic alternative that goes through some of the most scenic coast in all of BC.
