Corral de la Moreria is perhaps the most famous scene for Flamenco dancing in the world. You can dine or just take a drink with something small to eat. The cost is 30 euro for the show plus cost for what you eat and drink. The atmosphere in this relatively small local is very "Spanish". Further readings, see my nightlife tip about Corral de la Moreria.

(First a little tip, try to press one time at the "Caps Lock"-key. If you use CAPITAL letters, people might think you are SHOUTING very loud ;-))
As you see at my pages from the region around Madrid most places I have visited are very small, and not so touristic.
If it is your first time to Spain/Madrid there are perhaps many things that you *must* see before you start with some of my *small villages*.
However, tell me little about your interest and I might give you some hints. Are you interested in nature, art, museums, road trips in the country etc?
I hope you finally did find my flamenco tip:

I USE BIG LETTERS TO MAKE IT EASY TO READ,(I HAVE PROBLEMS), THIS IS MY SIX TO SAPIN, THE FIRST(IMADRID) WAS WHEN FRANCO WAS STILL IN CHARGE, THE LAST WAS FOUR YEARS AGO, I FLW TO MADRID AND FROM THERE TOOK THE TRAIN TO SEVILLE AND MET MY FRIEND ROAS FROM BARCELONA, TOUR MOST OF THE SOUTH PART OF SPAIN.
I LIKE NATURE, PEOPLE, GOOD FOOD, ANTIQUES,(MORE OF THE COLLECTABLE ONES)AND ART.I WILL GO TO THE RASTRO FLEA MARKET AS SOON AS I ARRIVE(I PLANED TO ARRIVE ON SUNDAY).
I SPEAK SPANISH SO THAT IS A BIG HELP.AND THANKS FOR THE FLAMINCO TIP, I WENT ON THERE WEB SIT,IS THERE A VERY GOOD PLACE FOR TAPAS? NOT TOURIST PLEASE.

If you go to places not so common they are not so touristic, often I have found, just going a bit off the lines, very beautiful places with great history, beautiful churches and other constructions from older times. It also of course depends on the season you go there.
The only cities I have found "touristic" were Segovia and Toledo, but I am not sure I want to miss them though.
So here is a small list with comment:
- Aranjuez (royal palace, nice to walk around)
- San Lorenzo de El Escorial (maybe touristic, but worth a visit)
- Las Hoces del Rio Duraton (great scenery, about 1 hour north from madrid, see off the beaten path, Spain, see also Villaseca & Sepulveda etc, do not miss to eat in Villar de de Sobrepeña)
- Ávila de los Caballeros (famous, but unfortunately very touristic and looks "prepared")
- Atienza, Brihuega, Cogolludo, Beleña de Sorbe, Hita, Torrelaguna etc etc (all small villages/towns with their own caracteristics)
- Chinchón (small typical town, not so touristic yet)
- Mérida (have not made my page yet, I am sorry, old roman city, worth a visit)
- Guadalupe (monastery, has a good hotel also)
I see I have neglected many fine villages ...
You also have Guadalajara near Madrid, and Alcala de Henares.
As the bars, be sure to get on time, and go to districts that not are touristic, then you will get what you want.
Good luck!

One more tip: You need a good map, buy a "Guia Campsa 2004". It has all the villages plus much useful data. You also get a map on CD to use in your computer.
