Ko Tarutao Where to stay on Koh Tarutao and more...
Posted: Thu October 14, 2004 04:37 PM UTC
Hi,
I am planning on going to Koh Tarutao in mid November for a few days, and wanted to ask someone who has been there recently:

1. Where is the best (cheap) place to stay?
(I found this website but not sure which one to book): http://www.thaiforrestbooking.com/np_home.asp?npid=7&lg=2

2. How long will it take us to get from Koh Tarutao to Bangkok (to catch our plane back to England)

Thanks lots for your help!

The best place to stay is within the park's premises but the longhouse isn't exactly ideal if you are on honeymoon because you can virtually hear every pin drop, conversation & any movements that go on in your neighbour's room!

Try get to Bangkok then Pak Bara to make your accommodation arrangements as you can always negotiate the rates when you are there. There are other islands within the vicinity which you could get to & it's not as big as Tarutao but has beautiful beaches like Ko Bulon, Ko Adang & Ko Lipe.

I'm thinking of going there after Christmas & I've been there (Lipe) six times already.

You might want to fly to Hadyai to make it easier as I don't know the distance & time taken from Pak Bara to Bangkok. Go to www.airasia.com to make your flight bookings for the internal flights from Bangkok then from Hadyai, travel by van to Pak Bara is only 2 hours. You might want to buy lots of things like pareos & mats so travel light with lots of shopping space in your bags!!!
