No, I would think that Palermo and Messina are even too far apart to visit all of Sicily and do it justice. Cefalu is a wonderful village with a magnificent Catherdal, but just too far to be able to see much of the other side except for Palermo, which is about a 45 minute drive by car. Staying at Agrigento you could see from Siracusa to Marsala. Messina offers you Taormina as well as Catania area and then over to Cefalu in the opposite direction. If you like to drive for 2 hours or more each way you might be able to see 1/2 of the Island from one location, but then I feel you would be wasting time driving. Ciao

Agree completely.

Are you going to drive or use public transport? I assume you want to be next to the sea (otherwise Enna is a very central mountain town)?

It simply isn't possible to see the entire Sicily in a week. I stayed a week and had time for Siracusa, Agrigento, Etna and Taormina which is a great first time itinerary since you get to see touristy (but stunning!) Taormina with its Etna view, take a drive up Etna itself, Siracusa with its two old amphitheatres and Ortygia the city centre island, and finally the World Heritage temple valley in Agrigento.

But then there's world heritage Noto, there's Palermo with its arabic architecture, there's Selinunte, there's roman villas and monasteries...you just have to make a choice!

It would depend on which side of the island you would like to see...east or west? Are you arriving into Palermo or Catania? Catania for east coast and Palermo for west coast travelling. A great place to stay for eth east coast is te Taormina area, trains, buses or rent a car and see the East from there.

Agree that it would be difficult to do justice to Sicily with just a week. Concentrate on the must sees, Cefalu, Taormina, Etna, Siracusa, Piazza Ammerina (check spelling) Noto, Agrigento and in the west Erice and around Trapani (Segesta) . You will not be able to do all of these but these are some of the good ones and it will depend on your interests.

A good place to stay and less touristy is Capo DÓrlando (I am a fan) It will not have as much historical interest as Cefalu but has a nice feel about it as a seaside village and less tourists.

From Capo DÓrlando it is 1 hour to Taormina and a good launching place for the central area of Enna.

Have not stayed in the hotels there but there is a nice one on the seaside called (I think) Il Mullino. Sorry but I do not have access to my travel stuff at the moment.
