There is a town near Moscow - Reutov, so this could be a surname as well. As for adress - Dr. is absolutely right.

Hey:

Thanks for the info. Guess whos name is on the list...yepper Serega Reutov.....lol

Guess I was lucky, I did some research last night after I seen this post and started viewing some of the blacklists that are out there, seems like they use a form letter and here I was thinking that maybe some things were getting lost in translation. At least, I was never asked for any $$$$ not even a hint of it after 2 months of writing.

But out of something suspicious, comes something good, I have learned a great deal about Russia and what a beautiful country it truly is. I have always wanted to travel there ever since I was a child and I now know that someday in the near future I will travel to Moscow..

Is it cruel to have some fun with this person now???

I too have been corresponding with Sergey. He told me he has a degree in Economics from the local University and is a bookkeeper at the company where his mother works. He also said he was 25 and his birthday is in December. The address he gave me is: Dekabristov stret 162, 420039 Russia, Kazan. I have been corresponding with Sergey for about two months now. He has shared with me his desire to visit the United States. If anyone else has more information on Mr. Reutov, please let's hear it! Based on other postings it appears there is a credibility gap here that is growing.

To anyone out there inquiring!

SERGEY REUTOV is a SCAMMER. I corresponded with him the last two months and the gullible lunk I am swallowed his tripe hook, line and sinker. And belive me, he is good too. I was completely naive to the whole Russian Internet Scam thing and in particular where it relates to gays.

MY LAST CORRESPONDENCE WITH SERGEY WAS YESTERDAY, Thursday, November 4, 2004. This was after sending him almost $2,000 for visa, airline tickets, etc... to come here to California to be with me. What an idiot I am!
Finally, I got a clue after he asked for more money he said was required to show U.S. Customs that he was not broke entering our country. Yesterday, I finally did some reserarch and started discovering all these interesting things and then today I found this site and whoa and behold who should be referenced but good ol Sergey Reutov, the Economist from Kazan.

GUYS, THIS GUY IS A SCUMBAG and should be avoided at all costs. WE NEED TO PASS THE WORD AROUND ASAP before any other gullible, honest "smucks" like me get taken by the sleezebag.

Anyone interested in more information just email me. I've got two months worth of sweatheart letters from him.

It sounds like our Serega Reutov has really gotten around! He told me he lives at 162 Dekabristov. We started writing the end of August 2004 and wrote very long emails. Funny, he would never write me first; always replying to my emails. He would never answer my questions unless I asked 2-3 times. The entire time we wrote, the fact that he was a scammer was in the back of my mind -- but I didn't want to believe it. He never mentioned money, so I tested him, asking how much his visa (etc.) would cost. He had it down to the dollar! After that, his emails became no longer than 2 lines. I didn't write back for 2 weeks, so when I wrote back I asked why he didn't write me long, caring letters anymore. THEN, I got a long "reply to my email" -- but it didn't sound like him. He never called me by name, just "my favorite". MY ADVICE: Stay away from Serega and any other young Russians who contact you via a chat service. I am very glad I found this site on the internet about our Serega...if that IS his name!

P.S. Did Serega send anyone any pics? I wonder if the ones he sent me look like the ones he sent others on this board?

I'm another one that got suckered by Sergey Reutov. The address he gave me is:
420000 Russia Kazan city Decabristov 168. And he told me his birthday is july 15.
He has been corresponding with me since july 2004. He last email to me was Christmas Day. I have sent him so much money I cannot believe it, I believed everything he told me. I just simply fell under his spell! He sent me pics....one of his family (mother, father, aunt, himself) another of his dog, another of him on a bus, one of him sitting on a pool table, and one of him walking in a park. Do anyone have any of these pics also?? He is now waiting for me to send him $2000 so he can "arrange a registration of a house" (as he puts it) so that he can leave the country and come to me. He also says the authorites won't let him out of the country unless he can show $1000 cash. New Russian law, he says. He also gave me the story of needing $2000 to avoid the army for one year. He set a date of me picking him up at the Los Angeles airport last sept 23, 2004. Of course i drove down there to get him, and when I arrived at my hotel, I found an email from him saying that he was acosted and beat up by 4 assailants and ended up in the hospital for one week. I asked him how he sent an email from the hospital and he said the "patient in the next chamber" had a laptop, which he borrowed. This guy is an incredibly talented scammer. Anyone who knows more please write me. -Dave <dwntwn1250@yahoo.com>

Partial truth. This is not Russian law but a law of almost all western courtries. They will not give you a visa unless you will show them your bank account abstract (what about a secrecy of account?) or show cash in bucks. Last one seems very stupid as the same pill of bucks could be shown by many people in a que. The most stupid rules are in German embassy.

Wow! This is amazing.

I have been writing to this person for 3 months now. He asked me last month for $300 for a visa.

I did not send him the money.

It has always been in the back of my mind that this was possibly a scam. But he is good at it.

There were signs all along that kept making me think he was legit.

On the weekend, I spoke with some friends who had read a warning on Gay.com. So this morning, I googled his full name and found all kinds of stuff, including this thread.

Phew. Thank God, I had my wits about me on this one.

I have a question about this. Sergey said that he needed a passport and visa to travel. He had told me in other letters that he had a passport. He said that there was one to live in Russia and one to travel outside of Russia. Is that true? I just never traveled outside of the U.S. Or is that another one of his lies?

As for myself. I did what I should have done in aug when I first started writing Mr. Reutov. Google him. He is getting very famous or should I say infamous on the web. And by the way I was checking messages all the time and I didn't see anything until today. I did make a home page.

Kazan' More on Sergey Reutov
Posted: Tue January 4, 2005 11:39 PM UTC
Hi,
Actually I have been checking this site everyday since I found it, to see what else is being said about our friend Serg. And yes I did make a homepage here, a few days ago, with pic. Some members here took the time to write me personally, which I appreciate.
Serg started corresponding with me since Aug 2004 but it was not until Sept 2004 that he first asked me for money for a visa and plane ticket. It was at that time that I put his name into search engines (yahoo, google) and NOTHING came up, so I thought all was well. It wasn't until I searched him again (Dec. 28) when all these sites popped up, including this one. I constructed a webpage of my own hoping others will see it and not be taken in by Serg. Check it out if you like at www.geocities.com/dwntwn1250.

Listen Doc,

A question was asked about whether this person was legit or not and people have answered accordingly.

If you do a google on this guy, you will find that he is a definite threat. A scammer.

You can downplay it all you want, but people have been taken in by him.

Telling people not to be dubious about this person is irresponsible.

And in response to your comment, "This is not a Court - it's a message board about travel."

In my experience, travel message boards exists not only to tell you about the good things a place has to offer, but also to warn you of things to avoid.
