Hi Nicki.....Congrats on getting to take a vacation! You sound as excited as I was at being able to take off work and scoot down to Mexico last year! My daughter just came back from touring the UK and adjacent countries with a youth group, and had a blast! Enjoy yourself and have a fun time....oh, and take lots of pictures to post! :-) Phil (BTW.....what is S.P.O.O.N.??)

The best cure for post holiday blues is to start planning the next one immediately on your return, it works every time

Phil, are those Alaska King Crab?? Wow! Nicki---I feel your excitement! I have had similar experiences where going back to work, even to a job I like, seems like a chore because the vacation was so much fun. I guess what helps me is thinking about the fact that what makes a vacation special IS the contrast between it and your "regular" life. If life was all a vacation, I wonder if we'd appreciate it the same? Vacations remain something to look forward to, because there never has to be just one. The reality for most of us is that we have to earn money for them as well, so the job in that respect is a positive thing :))

Porche911, as soon as i get back i will start thinking about my next two holidays which are in the early planning stages :)
Angie, you are totally right, and my dad keeeps saying he same thing to me. I enjoy my job immensly, and he says it will be hard for the first few days, especially when you come back to 400 emails!! But its true its the contrast which makes the holiday special and i will remind myself that :)
Thanks!

Nicki....thats cruel and unusual punishment to keep me in suspense like that! Just so you'll know, I'll probably not get a good nights sleep wondering what SPOON is! Hmmmm.....Society of Partiers On October and November......no..thats not it...Sometimes Planning Our Other Nocturnal activities....nope, that doesnt work either. How about a one word clue?? :-) Angie, yep, those are live king crabs in that shot. Living here in southeast Alaska there is a smorgasbord of fine seafood available if your a scubadiver! Its not uncommon for us to have a freshly harvested dinner of scallop, king crab, dungeness crab, and abalone at one meal after a dive. One fellow VT'r (who also dives) I met, lives in San Francisco. I went diving one day and sent her two crabs on a AK Airlines flight that went direct from Juneau to SFran. She was so tickeled to have some friends over to sample the freshest crab she had ever eaten! Its soo cool here at VT to meet interesting people isnt it? Dues....Take some pics of your "mini" VT get-together! I got together with four other VT'ers in San Francisco a while back while taking a pilot flight review there. We had a blast thaking in the sites and such! It just happened that three of us had business there at the same time, and one of us lived there. Hope your meeting turns out as well as ours did!

Hey now! THATS not the answer I expected! I thought you'd say something like "Well, SPOON involves international double-agents working undercover....I'd tell you what it stands for, but then I'd have to shoot you!" Come on girl! Dont blow my suspense! That lake that you mention that has the submerged town has piqued my curiousity. Does anyone there dive on that town? How cool would it be to scuba dive down main street of a lost city! Is the lake a long way from a major airport? Wouldnt it be fun to take U/W photos of it and post them here on VT under the heading "Local guide and Alaskan scuba-diver discover the lost city of Atlantis!" Ha! We'd make millions!
