Recommendations for lodging in Cusco?

Hello, I will need lodging in Cusco before my inca hike, after my inca hike, and another day or two in between my jungle expedition. Any suggestions for relatively cheap (less than $50/night), with a nice staff. Possibly a place that would let us leave behind a backpack or two (securely!) when we go on our hike. Prefer a good location, nice view a plus also. THANKS!

Even cheaper places may accept to keep your luggages while you're trekking..
There is a very nice hotel in Tullumayo street, around number 500 : it's about 12 USD per night, good staff and everything... I just can't remember the name, but if you have a look at the hotels and accomodations tips in Cuzco, you might find it back

I´m preruvian; yes you can get a hotel for less than US$ 50 of course, maybe for US$ 15 even with a nice accomodation, I went last year to Hostal Suecia, just half a block from the main plaza in Cusco, so in the middle of everything. I went with 2 more friends and payed US$ 15 for all us !! not luxury of course but ideal for adventure travelers. hot water, bathroom in the room, very quit.

I´m planing to go maybe for new year! Lets keep in touch.

Ooops ! I made a mistake : the price of the accomodation I recommend is around 15 soles per person (5 USD)
