I am a very discouraged solo traveler. I've backpacked through Europe for six months and had no trouble finding accomodation or information. It was so easy. My next trip I would like to be to the Carribean, Mexico or Central America. My hopes are something with white sand beaches, places to go socializing at night (singles thing, Club Med) and just have some fun. It is for this reason I often travel solo; I just don't want to get into the emotional hassles of having someone latch onto me. I'm kind of like a guy; if someone wants to participate in an activity I am doing, cool, but if not, oh well we can meet up for supper. I have some amazing friends and girlfriends but they are all married or unavaliable to travel. I just cannot envision the single supplement fee. There are no hostels (Hostelling International) in the places I want to visit. What are my options?
More then anything, I am terribly discouraged. I know options are out there. I know once I am introduced to a new forum of travel opportunities I'll flourish. It's breaking in and figuring it out. Can anyone offer some advise?
there a lots of backpackers around mexico and central america and if you are in to adventuros stuff, you will find lots of it. most hostels are private and not YHA members, but in my opinion these places are usually better. mexico city, cancun, playa del carmen, isla mujeres and san cristobal de las casas all have hostels for instance. so has most other main cities in mexico. dont wait one second. just do it. it is a fantastic part of the world.
