Hi

i would be very surprised if you get a reply on this. i would recomend you try researching the few ithaca web sites and pop this question in any guestbooks or forums you come accross.

I too would like to experience a greek island off season and ithaca was on my list.

Hello,

I went to Kefalonia last year and spent two days in Ithaca. It's basically a 'mini Kefalonia'. The people are friendly, a sort of 'everyone knows everyone' sort of place. The harbour areas are beautiful and often have a few yachts owned by 'island hoppers'. The restaurants are cheaper than those on Kefalonia and most of the other Greek islands.

The weather is good all year with very little rain. You'll probably find that some of the restaurants will close, but this island is not really touristy so it will appear pretty much the same winter and summer.

Ithaca is a great place to relax, although there aren't really any sandy beaches, but if you enjoy swimming you'll be pleased to know that the water is crystal clear.

If you have any more questions, let me know.

Sal x

Ithaca is the most fabulous place!! Me and hubby went for our honeymoon last year and have been back twice and are going again for 2 weeks next May!! The place is magical and we have made many friends there. The best way to see the island is to hire a moped or car, the scenery will bring tears to you eyes!! The sea is perfect for swimmming, so clear! The people are fantastic, you will be captivated! We have travelled the whole island many times!!

Have sailed into Kioni and was impressed. If you google the name you will see available places to stay. I liked the sea front tavernas which seemed to feature Jazz. Just up the coastal road within walking distance is an excellent restaurant with sea views. It was favoured by the film people when they made Captain Correlli's Mandelin.
Swimming is possible off the rocks just around the corner. I would like to explore this place.
