Kochi live in Cochin

After a posting of two years in Africa/Djibouti, next one will be Cochin.

What should I expect and what is the social/leasure life. I hear a lot of good general comments, but some tips are welcome.

Look really forward to this move, after desert like Djibouti.

Hi
Cochin is the major city in Kerala. a business capital, a major port, a major gateway to the south, a cultural and tourist center.
Like all business capitals, folks from all parts and diverse walks of life converge and bring a vibrancy to the city. Though it's not a mega city like Mumbai , Bangalore etc it still offers city attractions with old world charm.
Social/ leisure life -Loads of clubs and associations
Some major function or the other happening in Cochin.
People are friendly and helpful Will go out of the way to help
Great getaways close to Cochin -
The backwaters (Allepey) is only an hours and a half drive away So also Kumarakom
The great mountain ghats ( Munnar- Hill station) is but 03 hrs away
Thekkady Wildlife sanctuary is again but 03 hrs away
One thing for sure, it will sure make a whale of a difference after two years in Africa. Need more info /help drop a line at lady2byrd@yahoo.com
Cheers

Thanks introduction.

Also see that you are right now in Vizak.
Have to go there first.

Vizak and Cochin are two ports that Dubai are running, so before taking over the latter, have to go check out progress first in the other.

In the past visited Mumbai a lot and that is too much for me, but sounds like I will pretty much settle easily in the South - as you said, espcially after two years of not just Africa, but Djibouti.

Enjoy your trip.
