I am planning a trip to Daocheng/Yading Nature Reseve from Zhongdian in mid-October. Would like to know if there are direct public bus to Daocheng or otherwise. If yes, how much is the ticket, how many departure in a week, what time it departs and from where? Can some with such info advise me, as alot of my friends advise me not to go as the road condition is very bad....
At the same time, is Tiger Leaping Gorge close. If yes, any idea when will it be open for trekking. MY friends who has just return from Kunming last says it's close due to land slide.

Mid-October is the best time to visit Daocheng Yading. Welcome to Daocheng. There is public bus from Zhongdian to Daocheng.....almost everyday during travel season. It may interrupt one or two days by reasoning the condition of road or other occasional events. The road was refreshed last year . it's much more convenient today not as bad as what your friends said. The ticket seemsly is 112 yuan( Chinese money ). In addition, during the rainy season, land slide often happened there. After rainy season what finish at the end of august, The tiger leaping should be open. Moreover, I have to mention that, the altitude of Daocheng is high so that many people appear symptom of altiplano as headache. You'd better prepare some medicine like " Hongjingtian" and painkiller. Surely, I would like to help you when you arrive in Daocheng.welcome to have a meeting in "Yading people community". Glad answer any questions.

It's very cold......especially on the mountain...you'd better bring flannelette something clothes..........surely you also can buy cheap wadded jacket in Daocheng

I will be there next week, sometime around Nov 21st.

I got a question here. How is the weather condition in Daocheng and Yading. Are the roads condition good now? Or covered with snow?
