South Padre Island I don't really know anything about South Padre
Posted: Fri September 24, 2004 03:23 AM UTC
I'm taking my sister and some of her friends to South Padre for their highschool spring break, none of them are over 18 is there anything they can do? And how's the night like for the under 18 and over 21?? Is there a lot to do during the day and is it based on spring breakers or is it more of a family oriented place? Please help me out! thanks a ton!

i was there many years ago and was very young...was like 14 or so...there is a mixture of college kids and also families that go there...because it coincides with high school spring breaks in texas as well as the college spring breaks from around the country...you could head over to mexico sometime and drink and party there at their ages...no problem...not too far either...like 10-20 minutes from there...the beaches are nice at south padre and if you are into the beach thing, theny ou will love it...nice beaches...not sure about the club scene and stuff since i was young when i was there...but should be a good time at any rate

Hello,
I live near South Padre Island and have done a lot of work in the area for travel agencies, etc. I would be more than happy to help you since I love the place and would love for more people to see this "best kept secret of Texas".

I am currently working on a planning guide for new Spring Breakers and I hope to have it done soon. If you are interested in this, please email me at: skunker@gmail.com.

However, SPI is a family place and a Spring Breaker place in one and there are a few places that your sister and her friends can go to such as Louies BackYard, Chaos and a few other clubs. ALso, right across the border in Mexico, they will be allowed virtually anywhere....and the drinking age starts at 16. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

Well, there are some nightclubs where they can enter but they cant drink but am sure they will have a great time because SPI is mostly of young people. SPI is family oriented almost all year except for spring break =). IN spring break I have even see MTV on the Tequila Frogs and Chaos nightclubs.

Teens under 18 are not allowed to check -in to most hotels without there parents being present, the only way for them to be able to check-in is with a notorized release form from the parents accepting all liability for
anything that happens to the underage person or any damages they may cause. As far as entertainment there is a club called Choas that does allow underage teens, and also some of the lounges in the hotels with live music will also allow teens. There will be plenty of activities on South Padre Island during the day, but as far as SPI being family orientated or not., during Sping Break it definitly is NOT. SPI during spring break is all about teenagers running wild & drinking.
