| Xilitla | Tips to Xilitla in October? Posted: Thu September 23, 2004 08:42 PM UTC
Hi all,
I'll be in Ciudad Valles the first week of October and hopefully make it down to Xilitla if time permits. I'm trying to budget my time and I'm not quite sure where I should budget more time. (?) About how long would you spend in: Ciudad Valles Puente de Dios Xilitla Rio Verde Taninul Also, how is the weather in that area right now? Does anyone know? Will I be able to hike around? Does anyone know about entrance fees? basically any general info about these places would do. Thank you in advance, Diana |

Very interesting route!
It will be cooling down at night, not too much since it's very humid. I think the places that will take more will be Rio Verde and Xilitla. Is Taninul or Tamul? I wonder.. If it's Tamul, it will take you a while to get there, but it will be worth! It's a beautiful water fall.. Xilitla is for a half day tour.. I stayed in town... Puente de Dios, half day maybe.. mm.. I will find with my contacts.. Congratulations for that trip, la huasteca is so magic. =) Enjoy. Zara

Thanks Zara. I feel a lot better about my trip...I feel so lost. I've tried to research a lot but the info I get off the net gets a bit confusing after a while.
By the way about how long away from Ciudad Valles is Taninul? I want to stay in Ciudad Valles and take a day trip to Taninul would that be posible? I think its Taninul. I'll keep looking to double check. Thanks again, Diana

Of the places you are mentioning, Xilitla is truly unique. you must stay minimum half a day or more.
There is a video of Sir Edward James (he built the Castle) that would be very useful to watch before you go. Food tip: Coming from Valles, 15 km before getting to Xilitla, there is a small restaurante called "La Curva" (the curve) and they prepare fresh-water shrimp (Acamayas) in a broth and it is truly worth having them. NOT worth it: Xilitla grows coffee. Not good, don't bother. Enjoy your trip. Tatox
