| Nitra | Nitra Posted: Sun September 19, 2004 05:09 PM UTC
Hi, next year I will study from January till March at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. This is only 3 months from now, and actually I don't know a thing about the place / university (except for some general info)
Can anyone provide me with any information about nitra and/or the university. Is it lively, is there much to do, how cold will it be in Jan.-Mar. , where can i find a room and how much would that cost me, ..... Any info is welcome. Thank you, Bert |

Ahoj,
there is a good student life in Nitra, it is an average town, not too pretty, not too awful :o) And it is just one hour drive to the capital Bratislava, so you can go to the concerts, theatre, exhibitions there if you like! You should not pay more than 2000 Slovak crowns per month for a cheap rented room. If you are demanding, then go up to 5000,- Sk (Slovak crowns=Slov.koruny) for a separate one room flat. There are several advertisement sites on the Web, unfortunately sometimes just in Slovak language. The word podnájom = rented flat/room. Use the keywords Podnájom and Nitra. As for the weather it is easy to find on the web, I never stayed in Nitra in winter (I prefere skiing in the mountains, there are no mountains here).

Nitra will have less snow than e.g. north of slovakia in winter, but will recover it with wind and (freezing) rain.
As of accomodation, there should also be a way of getting a room/bed in student dormitory, try to contact "student council" or so

I live in Nitra so feel free to contact me directly with more specific questions - just basic infos:
Try these servers (if you like Slovak language): http://www.nitra.sk/ http://www.nisys.sk/ 01-03.2005 could be wet, windy, perhaps some snow. temperature -5..0 Nitra is small city with small center - some nice pubs. You will be in a group of young people and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun here. Small apartment (35sqm) you could rent for 6000SK/month Roman
