| State of Yap | Looking for my father, Robert Falagoy Posted: Sun September 19, 2004 01:11 AM UTC
Hello, my name is Jacqueline Vadala, I'm 22 years old and live in New York. I've been trying to locate my father via the internet for a long time - he's from Yap. I've heard that the islands of Micronesia are very small and "everybody knows everybody." I'm trying to contact anyone with any information whatsoever. I'd really appreciate any help at all. I'm looking for Robert Falagoy, or anyone in his family. I am his daughter and he does not know of my existance. I know he used to be a fisherman, and was studying bricklaying, and he's about 42-44 years old. I know this is a long-shot, but if you give me any information that could lead me to him, there is a reward. I've been looking him for years... thanks for listening!
Sincerely, Jacqueline Vadala PS: below is my contact information email: jackievadala@yahoo.com Phone: 516.870.4377 |

Jackie, don't post your phone number on here - you never know who will call you and *pretend* to be the person you are looking for.
Good luck with your search. If you want to edit/revise your post, you can right to VT and have them delete your original post. Wendy

Jacqueline-
Yep, Wendy's quite correct about the phone number. I did a quick Copernic search, for the Island of Yap, Micronesia (which I'm sure you have too), and found the white pages (phone list) and didn't find anything about a Falagoy. Have you checked the Embassies on the Island (I'm sure you have) for other information? Have you checked out other Islands around Yap? Finding someone is a pain in the kazoo. And finding someone in Micronesia is a whole different monster. If I can assist, I will. Best of luck! Jeff-

Dammit Jeff, I'm a vt'er, not a telephone directory!! (won't mean boo to you if you didn't watch old star trek episodes).
I emailed the good Ms. Vadala at her yahoo address. Hope it's a lead. w

I can't believe I typed "right" for "write". Ugh.
My success for finding lost people is about 8 out of 10. Hope my record holds ;)

Small world, huh? :) I went to Robert Morris College when it was in Carthage. One of the girls in my dorm was dating a guy from Warsaw - Blaine something or other.

A discussion from way back when it was warm (temperature-wise). It's frigid up here. We're not happy, but we do have heat. ;O) Jeff-

I just want to make it to April, clear out the gutters, clean the garage, and have temps above absolute zero. (If it takes getting to May, that's fine by me). Jeff-

Surely Rochester can't be any worse/better than Denver?

No, no...I mean weather-wise.
I'm jealous - you have Mayo Clinic. Also, wasn't Rochester voted the #1 city to live in the U.S. last year (or maybe 2004). Besides, the smaller the city, the more charming. ;)

Yeah, I think it was the #1 community to live in, at some point. The Mayo is hell to get into. 2 - 4 hour waits, but, I s'pose it's the same everywhere. As far as weather goes, Denver is 'do-able' during the winter. Rochester is brutal. Jeff-

Mayo is hell to get into when you're in Illinois - 2 to 6 months ;)
Jeff, honestly, I think you're kind of being a .... well.... baby about the whole thing. Do you have 4WD or did you leave that in Denver?

"A baby"? No, not at all. I'm still here. 4-WD doesn't make sense here. One would only use it to go into the fields and muck. I never go there. The MB is fine. To work, to the Cities, that's fine. Jeff-

If the MB is doing fine, you must be in the city.
I was under the impression that you were to the point of prefering Rochester over Denver. Am I wrong? (perhaps we should take this to email?)

Some what, but is your father Yapese? Is your father, from what island>

Nice of you to do the followup on this.
I wonder if that was, indeed, her father. We found some good leads above, so hopefully they were able to contact each other. I emailed her the information, but never heard back from her. This has got to be the strangest thread I've ever participated in. Four years and still going.
