My family usually visits Zion in May but would like to take advantage of the "off-season" hotel bargains this year. My question is this. . if we come the last weekend in February or very beginning of March will the weather prohibit outdoor activity? Our kids are little so we don't do any major hiking, just a few of the easy/moderate trails each day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! THANKS
Trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local on the day variations. This information should be used as a guide only. Hi, I have hiked in Zion National Park in February and March and found the weather to be just fine. Cool during the days - 50's to 60's and cold at night 30s to 40's. I prefer it in the shoulder season - fall and spring - as there's usually not the crowds that you find in Zion May thru September. Zion Canyon, that time of year, does not usually have any snow or ice! Enjoy! Wayne traveltothewest.com

The weather is impossible to predict more than a couple of weeks in advance. There are storms that would more or less ruin your plans for visiting Zion that occur in the winter, but they don't keep to any sort of schedule. Maybe plan to do Zion, but also have an alternative plan for the lower elevations. How about going to the Grand Canyon?

Zion doesn't usually get too much snow, Usually :-). But it can. We were there a few years ago end of Jan and the trouble we had was the cold had frozen the snow and ice even on the easy trails. We couldn't take them. I would imagine late Feb your going to have better luck. Be sure to see the visitors centers. In Springdale is an animal farm you should visit for sure.
