I am planing to drive from Puerto Vallarta to zihuatanejo in January can anyone tell me if the drive down 200 is safe
One of our members and a VT friend DSwede is in the area now. Recommend that you send him an e-mail to get his advice. if you do drive be sure to drive during the day and have a cell phone available in case of emergencies.

If it were my trip, I'd use one of the excellent bus services. If you must drive, though, do so only during daylight hours - for various security and/or safety reasons. The state of Michoacan is one of the principal war zones and there are numerous official advisories, issued by foreign governments, to avoid the state entirely.
