Travelling from Stonetown to Ras Nungwi

Hello travellers We fly into Zanzibar next week, arriving around 11.00am, and we are staying up at Ras Nungwi. We would appreciate some advice on the best way to get to the other end of the island. We have read there are buses but that they take ages - are there any other options? Thanks
