Zagreb to Ljubljana, Slovenia: Buy train ticket in advance necessary?

by FreeCloud Online Now Apr 29, 2009 at 10:09 AM

Thanks for those of you who helped me with online train schedule/price.

We will be in in Zagreb for two days, then take a train to Ljubljana (departure mid-morning/noon) on a Wednesday. Do we need to buy the ticket in advance for the train we want to take? If yes, how many days in advance? Or we only need to buy it before we take the train? There are only 2 non-stop trains we like to take, do not want to miss the chance.

Thanks for any help!

I've bought tickets for Zagreb - Ljubljana in Zagreb minutes before the train left. It's usually not a problem. Trains aren't like planes. If you want peace of mind (you never know if there's going to be a queue at the ticket office) just buy your ticket when you arrive in Zagreb. The 9 and 13 o'clock trains don't have compulsory reservation, so a ticket for the right date will be valid on both.
