I am looking for a professional/reliabe driver from Kunming to YuanYang
I'm going to Yunnan this May/June. Places I'd like to visit are Kunming, Lijiang, Tiger Leaping Gorge. I'm wondering of anyone has any travel advice? Also looking for travel buddies for the trip- will be doing quite a bit of hiking/trekking, I hope.
Could you suggest a 3 days itinerary in Lijiang?
Could you please recommend two days of activities for Kunming?
Hi, planning to go back to Yunnan in Jan or Feb for at least 10 days into area with rice fields near Yuanyang or Lao/Viet border. Is it possible to catch direct buses from either Meng La or Jinhong, since I'll enter China from Laos? Or do I have to go somewhere else (Pu'er/Simao?)? Which district is best to use as a base for exploring the area, any place that has bike rental services? Thanks, v.
Hi, if I wish to take the shuttle bus from the airport into the hotel in the city, where do I get down? After that, do I take a taxi or walk? Or is it better to take a taxi directly? The hotel is in East Shifu Street, Kunming City Center. TQ.
Can anyone give an opinion about Cloudland Youth Hostel and The Hump Youth Hostel? In terms of location (train station, airport, shopping malls) and other factors like cleanliness. I am also open to staying at budget hotels and hope to get some recommendations (about 200 yuan/night). TQ.
Hi, I shall be in Kunming on 11 Nov and have planned to fly to Shangrila on 13 Nov before slowly making my way down to Kunming once more via Dali and Lijiang by bus/train. Is this a good idea or should I go up slowly by bus/train up to Shangrila before flying back to Kunming? TQ.
Hi! I'm planning for my honeymoon in Lijiang from 2nd Oct to 7th Oct. Wondering how will the weather/temperature be like because me and my partner are from a tropical country so we're quite unsure of what to pack. Don't want to be freezing out butts off there :D What is a good website for maps because I believe google and google maps are unavailable in China. Would be helpful if anybody could give me some suggestions for the itinerary. Thanks in advance everybody.
I'm planning a trip from Kunming to Lijiang by overnight train. I need some suggestion from you. 1. Which overnight Train has VIP Chamber, since we, a couple, will visit with 3 yr kid (height is less than 95cm) a. K9606 (20:53 ~ 06:33) b. K9610 (21:58 ~ 07:10) c. K9614 (22:28 ~ 07:39) d. K9652 (23:55 ~ 10:12) 2. I will start on 28th Oct 2012 from Kunming by overnight train. Is it possible to book the ticket from the website http://www.12306.cn/mormhweb/kyfw/ just now to ensure to get by anyone else with my name & passport number. 3. How much it would take by a taxi from Kunming new airport to Train Station at around 19:30 and what will be the time to reach. 4. Is there any alternative way (by bus) to reach Train Station from new airport? What is the route if we want to go by bus & what time it may take at the evening time? Thanks in advance for your great passions. Sayem
Dear Members, Would you please suggest me an itinerary: Planning to reach Lijiang at early morning of 29th Oct (by overnight train) and will leave evening of Nov 01 (by overnight train) from Kunming. It means I have 4 Days & 3 Nights to explore the Lijiang, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain & Tiger Leaping Gorge (if possible). Please consider that I'm very much interested to observe the Snowfall. I'm planning to visit with my wife & 3 years kid. Would you please suggest me an itinerary which is not tiring & also enjoyable. Waiting for your valued suggestion. Regards, Sayem
My wife and me intend to travel to Yunnan on September-October. We would like to travel for 6 days to East Yunnan (Luoping-Bamei area). We are looking for a driver+car or a guide+car for this time. We will be on low budget so a simple car with a friendly driver/guide will be enough for us.
From info on the internet, it seems it may snow in Shangrila in November. Are the tourist attractions accessible in that weather?
A friend and I will be going to Yunnan in mid-November for 2 weeks. Besides Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangrila, I hope to be able to go to Yuanyang too. Is 2 weeks enough? Approximately, how many days for each place? Thank you.
My travel plans are so far this : Arrive Shanghai, explore Shaoxing and vicinity, train to Guangzhou, onward either to Guilin and the terraces OR to Dali in Yunnan. it looks a beautiful place but its more travelling. Trains are not direct either so how much would it cost to fly ? i would go about 5th October for 4 days
We are planning this leg. We would be coming from Chengdu. I am uncertain as to what is the best approach and whether it is worth the effort involved to get to Lijiang. We are not hikers and I have read that the roads to the various Gorges can be quite dangerous. We are also trying to decide if it is a scenic route by train from Lijiang to Kunming during the day. Of course I am also concerned about availability of train tickets as we are not on a flexible timetable. Is Kunming just another big city? I have also read that there is a bit of turbulance flying into Lijiang or Kunming. As I have some problems with flying this is another concern. I don't wish to sound so negative but I want to make sure that I am not totally out of my comfort zone in doing this holiday. We plan to go to Guilin from there. Hoping that someone can me iron out my concerns.
Hi, I am leaving next week to Kunming-Dali-lIjiang and the itinerary after Lijiang is TLG to Shangrila and back to Lijiang. I think I will not join the tour to Shangrila to but only to Tiger Leaping Gorge the half day morning tour. After that I will go back to Lijiang by myself. Could you please advise any public transport back to Lijiang and for how long ? The group will come bback to Lijiang again after one night in Shangrila. Thanks.
Can you please help me with the best time to visit southern China eg Guangzhou & Guilin and then South West China in Kunming, Dali & Lijiang. We don'twant to be there at the wettest time of the year nor the coldest. Thanks Peter
Hi, Planning to Kunming then Dali for 2 days and Lijiang to visit many places around there. I am worried about the height as I am sensitive to altitude. Please need advice from those who have ever been there. To go to Shangrila, any problem ? And what about Jade Dragon snow mountain ? If I go there, but stay on ground without taking the chairlift up the mountain. I know that I may have to carry oxygen tube or chinese medicine but will this really help ? Thanks.
Does anyone know where I can get a computer (external hard drive) repaired in Kunming? Many thanks.
Hi, I will arrive Kunming late in the evening next month and I'm looking for a budget hotel with attach bathroom and breakfast. What is the best way and season to tour Liuku area?
Hi all, I'm planning to go to Shangrila, Lijiang & Dali for the first time by myself in October 2011; and looking at around 8 to 10 days. I'll need to know some travel tips to start planning such as: 1. Which international airport in China is the best to get to these places? 2. Which place should I start first and ending place - Shangrila or Dali or Lijiang? 3. How many days do I need to visit all these 3 places? And time spend for each places too? 4. Which are the main attractions that are worth visiting for these 3 places? 5. How will the weather be like in October? Will it be very cold that I'll need winter-wear? Really need some useful tips. Thanks all in advance.
Hi, We will be 2 persons travelling around Yunnan next August (Yuanyang, Dali, Lijinag, Shangrila). As we have only a few days, we will like to prepare the trip in advance. We want to arrange transports and hotels, but not meals and a full day guide, we prefere to be in our own. Does anyone some recommendations for a good travel agent or private car? Thanks Xampaio
Plan to go to Lijiang this May break and we were given below itinerary -- kindly advise if good enough : DAY 1 : check in, then the guide will take you around the old town a bit, so you have a sense of direction here. DAY 2 : Shuhe Old Town, Baisha village. Then drive up to Snow Mt., and take big cable car to Glacier Park, Impression Show. Blue Moon Valley. DAY 3 : Drive to Lashi Lake village for horse riding along the fields around Naxi villages, and boat on the lake, Black Dragon Pool. Climb the Lion Hill for overall view in the old town, Zhongyi vege market, Mountain River Show at 730pm-9pm. Night in Lijiang DAY 4: Drive 4 hrs to Dali. Dali Prefacture Museum in Dali new town, Yuer Park by the Erhai lake. Dali Old Town. DAY 5 : Xizhou morning market, walk around the fields and houses in Xizhou. Then drive 3.5 hrs to Shaxi, a cutural and natural place of beauty. DAY 6 : Drive 2.5 hrs back to Lijiang. Free afternoon in Lijiang old town, then send to airport. Option, visit the Baoxiangsi Temple in Shibaoshan Mt. for another 1 hr in Shaxi. QUESTIONS: 1. Do we miss anything for this trip -- I was told that Shangrilla will be too dry at this season ? Any thoughts ? 2. Zen Hotel in Lijiang -- is it worth it ?? Any suggestion for place to stay closer to old town ? 3. Linden Centre in Xizhou village in Dali -- it worth it ? Any suggestions to stay in Dali ? or do we even have to stay in Dali ?? 4. Shaxi --> what is this place -- is it worth it or better spend more time in Lijiang ? Look forward fo ryour feedback soon :)
Hi, Anyone out there can give me some contacts regarding farm or villa stays with meals provided near Kunming? Good and cheap as well Thanks for any replies
We will be in Kunming in April and would like to hire a car with driver for about four days to take us to Dali and back. We are travellers with minimal luggage. thanks,Mike
Hi guys, Am planning a trip to China over Easter - 22 Apr, and was wondering : 1) if 5D/4N to Kunming + Lijiang + Shangri La is too ambitious? (Presumably just half a day in Kunming and we are not planning to do any major trekking) Or 6D/4N? My 1st and last day will be spent on the plane (int'l and domestic) 2) what is the weather like in these 3 cities around then? 3) Is Banyan Tree all that good or just hyped up? Any more moderately-priced hotels just as fantastic - eg MGallery Songtsam (Accor Group)? Tx all!!
I would like to go to dali shangrila in yunnan but do not know how i live in hongkong and would like to go with a samll group of people can you recommend?
Hey Guys, Im gonna be coming from Laos at the beginning of February time which will coincide with Chinse New Year. I was thinking of either getting to Kunming or Dali and basing my self there for the travel difficulties to die down. However, because of visas the earliest date I can enter is the 1st of February. Should I try then or wait until a few days after CNY? What would be the earliest date of transport? Also, do you think I would be able to book train travel from Laos a few days a head to try and beat the difficult transport. Any help would be great
