Advise re-travel itinerary

by anoum Online Now May 20, 2012 at 2:18 AM

A friend and I will be going to Yunnan in mid-November for 2 weeks. Besides Kunming, Dali, Lijiang and Shangrila, I hope to be able to go to Yuanyang too. Is 2 weeks enough? Approximately, how many days for each place? Thank you.

Yunnan is amazing, I spent a week there, although most of my time was in Dali (4 days) Lijiang 1 day and Kunming the rest. Dali is very nice but perhaps not real Chinese, Lijiang is very touristy and can be a long journey if coming from the east (winding roads) Didn't really see the attraction of Kunming if I'm honest but I did manage to see the Dwarf village! If you have 2 weeks I'd spend 4-5 days in Dali and see the Tiger Leaping Gorge on a trip from Lijiang. Jinhong is apparantly nice but I just whizzed through it.

Hello George, thank you for taking the trouble to help. If Dali isn't 'real Chinese', do you mean it is more developed than expected or it has more characteristics of the ethnic people there? What would you recommend as 'must see' in Dali?
