Grand Canyon to LA via Route 66

Grand Canyon National Park Apr 28, 2013 at 11:15 AM

I'm just organising a multi centre trip to the US and I am spending 5 nights in Vegas and then I am going to drive to the Grand Canyon and stay 1 night there. I believe you can get to route 66 to from the GC but just wondering how as the driving directions from Vegas all take me to the North Canyon. I know that route 66 is south of the Canyon so how would you join it and how long would it take?
Finally where would be a good midway point to stay for 1 night on route 66 before leaving for LA the next day?

      Grand Canyon in December

Grand Canyon Apr 27, 2013 at 8:10 PM

We are visiting Las Vegas in December for 6-7 nights and we want to do the GC as well as Hoover Dam.

I'm starting with a blank, I know it can be done in a day on a tour as I am a UK travel agent and book this often but we prefer to self drive - hate buses and my son is Autistic so doesn't do well with group travel. We can stay overnight if need be but we are not into hiking so the easiest way to get to the best views is the best idea! I believe that there is a viewing platform made from glass? Is this worth a shot?

If we stay over night we could possibly do 2 areas of the Canyon, is this a good idea? Is there anything else in the area?

Finally if we don't self drive is the helicopter worth doing from Vegas? Or even the helicopter from the canyon itself? Is is likely to be busy during these dates?

How long is the drive and if overnighting is it OK to combine it with Hoover Dam?

      Any advice would be great!

Tuscon and area with a 17 month old

      Tucson Apr 22, 2013 at 6:12 AM

We'll be traveling with our 17 month old daughter to Tucson, staying with family towards the end of May. We will also be staying for two nights in Sedona. We plan to drive around a lot and see the Grand Canyon, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for places to see with a toddler (give me strength!). It doesn't have to be kid-focused, but perhaps parks or areas where little toddlers can run around and let off steam. I'm just starting to do research about this trip now so am really open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance!

We are headed south for the first time in early January and are looking for advice on the best route to take from Alberta to Yuma. We are hoping to avoid bad weather/roads and big climbs as we will be pulling a Fifth wheel. All suggestions appreciated.

We are visiting from UK to Nevada/Arizona/California on Nov 14th 2006 for 3 weeks flying to Vegas, travelling to Wickenberg, Tucson, Tombstone, Nogalez, Yuma, Palm Springs back to Vegas. Has anyone done any of the day trips by jet boat from Yuma or train rides anywhere en route. We are into wild life and nature/scenery. Any tips including stop overs would be appreciated.

by WUD Online Now Mar 18, 2006 at 3:53 PM

Does anyone have any information on El Golfo? If so, please email me at wud1@aol.com or go to my site http://wud1.com and leave a message; either way. I mostly want to know if there are any hotels/motels to stay at, and what the best places to go for food and fun are. I appreciate any input you may have. thanks debi
