Winter in Yosemite

My friend and I are planning to go snow shoeing and cross country skiing in Yosemite during the 2nd weekend of Feb. We're planning to stay in the Evergreen Lodge and wondered if anyone has any feedback re. this facility and also, is this a convenient place to stay to do the mentioned activities? we're hoping to not have to drive once at the lodge.
