How many days is sufficient for basic touring and shopping ?
Is there conman activities ?

From the time i land in Yogyakartha, as a newbie , how am i to make way to a hotel, which is not too expensive, not Phoenix nor a backpacker , a good accommodating hotel, which provides a good a/c room and the shopping districts (Batik shopping) and food outlets must be within the walking distance
Hi
We are a couple who are going to Yogyakarta to study for a semester, from September to February this year. Do any of you have any recommendations regarding places to live? Price isn't really a big issue, as Indonesia is cheap in comparison to our home country. We were looking at this place tigalima.wordpress.com/room-... (the Room Deluxe), but they were full.
Would be nice if it wasn't too far from UGM :)
Thanks in advance!
Hi all, I've been reading some of the forum posts and they've been helpful. Just some questions from me : Should I make tour bookings to visit all the wonderful historical sites in Yogyakarta e.g Borobudur & Prambanan prior to arrival or can I easily get those tours arranged when I'm in Yogyakarta? Is it a good idea to hire a driver and car, or is public transport sufficient? I read lots of good things about Hotel Phoenix, is that a good location. It seems to be away from Jalan Malioboro where the shopping and nightlife are. I'd like to keep my options open and decide my itinerary day by day. I'm traveling on a budget so hope that helps to answer my questions. Thanks :)

And where/how can I reserve the tickets and see the schedule (I read, that's importan to reserve the ticket in advance, but unfortunately I don't know where/how to do it). Thank you for your advice. We are a group of three, in June we'll visit Bali. During the last week we would like to go from Bali by ferry to Java and then to Yogyakarta to visit its wonderful temples. Is it tough by car? How long can it take? How are the road conditions in that area? Better to use public transport or a private car with a local driver? How much it costs more or less?
Hi! I am considering joining the Interhash 2012 which will be held in Borobudur. The website for it says 24-27 May is outside the tourism high season. I wonder why late May is outside the tourist high season and what the weather will be like in Jogyakarta/Borobudur/Prambanan then? E.g. will it be dry and slightly cooler or hot and rainy? Thanking you in advance for your responses.
We will arrive Yogyakarta Airport at 1:30pm. If we hired a taxi to Prambanan and Ratu Boko, then to the hotel in downtown. Do u think we have enough time to visit the important sights of these two places, including sunset view? How much do you think the taxi will cost us? Thanks
We are looking at going into yogyakarta in August to see Borobudur and Prambanan and other sites and wish to find out if independant travel is possible in this area of Indonesia. We will be coming from Australia via Bali. Any information on how to get there and travel around and back overland to Bali would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Peter
Hi, I have a friend who would be based with Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (ISI) for a period of 6 months starting from February onwards and she's expected to rent a house/room somewhere in Jogja throughout that said duration. I was wondering if there is any home food delivery service on daily basis that she could hire on monthly basis if u know what I mean. Any info/web URL etc is greatly appreciated. Cheers now.

Any safe percaution advise as there's only 2 of us? Any thing to recommend ...what we should and should not do there? Please help me... to ease my fear. As this will be my first tyme travel alone with a friend. Please assist us. Thank you so much. Read more: VT Forum temporarily unavailable

Am I able to visit Borobudur and Prambanan on the same day? Is Prambanan open in the afternoon? Thanks.
Here is my plan to Indonesia: Day 1: arrive Jakarta Day 2: City Tour in Jakarta Day 3: domestic flight to Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta city tour Day 4: Borobudur Day 5: Prambanan Day 6: domestic flight to Surabaya (early morning). Join 2-day tour to Bromo Day 7: see sun rise on Bromo, Go back to Surabaya day 8: Surabaya city tour, see the Komodo dragon in the zoo. Day 9: domestic flight to Lombok Island Day 10: Lombok Day 11: go to Bali, city tour in Bali Day 12: domestic flight to Jakarta Day 13: flight to Hong Kong My questions regarding the part in Yagyakarta: 1. I heard that most sights close in the afternoon, is this the case? 2. Instead of taking flight from Yagya to Surabaya, is there tour start from Yagya to Mount Bromo? Which way (flight/land) is recommended? Thank you!
Hi Am planning to visit Jogja soon, and I am considering coming in via Solo airport (Silkair flight from Changi airport). Is it easy to get transport from Solo to Jogja (and back a few days later to catch the return flight)? And if so how much would the cost be? The reason for this is that from Singapore to Jogja I have 2 options - Garuda via Jakarta or Air Asia direct. But Air Asia departure from Jogja is at 7.25 am and I'd rather not have such an early flight if I can help it. Thanks.
1) What is the famous food in Yogya? 2) Is it easy to get Halal Food in Yogya? 3) Planning to stay in All Season Hotel Yogya... Is it a good hotel since I'm taking my kids there too... 4) Any good shopping compleks/factory outlet?
We're a group of 8 booked our flights to Yogyakarta come September. We're keen on visiting Mt.Bromo's crater. I've worked out an itinerary Yogyakarta-Solo-Bromo within 4 days! Also on our wish-list is to visit Mt.Ijen's crater and at least be able to enjoy 'seeing' the other mountains, especially the site of Merapi. We reckon driving to Bromo would be 10-14hrs from Yogyakarta. Can somebody please tell me if there is a better alternative? Mt. Bromo is the highlight of our tour, so we can't opt that out but in 3 days, are we crazy? And a bit of shopping plus city-site-seeing would also cheer the group members. Thanks !
Hi All! I am planning to visit Yogyakarta by 27th of June. However, I don't know where should i start from and where should i pay a visit to. I'm a budget backpacker and travelling alone. I would like to go to certain places such as Borobudur, Prambanan, Ijo temple and mount merapi. Is it necessary to have a local guide there or i can go anywhere on my own by taking public transport? And i heard that it's not suitable to climb mt merapi at his period of time. I would like to try mount climbing( I've never done this before and really want to experience it). Any places to recommend? Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
