    • Accomodation - Longer stay in Yogyakarta

by eriksen10 Online Now May 8, 2013 at 7:46 AM

      Hi

We are a couple who are going to Yogyakarta to study for a semester, from September to February this year. Do any of you have any recommendations regarding places to live? Price isn't really a big issue, as Indonesia is cheap in comparison to our home country. We were looking at this place tigalima.wordpress.com/room-... (the Room Deluxe), but they were full.

Would be nice if it wasn't too far from UGM :)

      Thanks in advance!

Can I wing it in Yogyakarta?

by BorneoGrrl Online Now Dec 14, 2012 at 4:03 AM

Hi all, I've been reading some of the forum posts and they've been helpful. Just some questions from me : Should I make tour bookings to visit all the wonderful historical sites in Yogyakarta e.g Borobudur & Prambanan prior to arrival or can I easily get those tours arranged when I'm in Yogyakarta? Is it a good idea to hire a driver and car, or is public transport sufficient? I read lots of good things about Hotel Phoenix, is that a good location. It seems to be away from Jalan Malioboro where the shopping and nightlife are. I'd like to keep my options open and decide my itinerary day by day. I'm traveling on a budget so hope that helps to answer my questions. Thanks :)

Hi! I am considering joining the Interhash 2012 which will be held in Borobudur. The website for it says 24-27 May is outside the tourism high season. I wonder why late May is outside the tourist high season and what the weather will be like in Jogyakarta/Borobudur/Prambanan then? E.g. will it be dry and slightly cooler or hot and rainy? Thanking you in advance for your responses.

      Yagya to Surabaya

by Poling Online Now Nov 1, 2011 at 12:11 AM

Here is my plan to Indonesia: Day 1: arrive Jakarta Day 2: City Tour in Jakarta Day 3: domestic flight to Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta city tour Day 4: Borobudur Day 5: Prambanan Day 6: domestic flight to Surabaya (early morning). Join 2-day tour to Bromo Day 7: see sun rise on Bromo, Go back to Surabaya day 8: Surabaya city tour, see the Komodo dragon in the zoo. Day 9: domestic flight to Lombok Island Day 10: Lombok Day 11: go to Bali, city tour in Bali Day 12: domestic flight to Jakarta Day 13: flight to Hong Kong My questions regarding the part in Yagyakarta: 1. I heard that most sights close in the afternoon, is this the case? 2. Instead of taking flight from Yagya to Surabaya, is there tour start from Yagya to Mount Bromo? Which way (flight/land) is recommended? Thank you!

    • Solo to Jogja by taxi

by ZeroNiner Online Now Oct 31, 2011 at 11:09 PM

Hi Am planning to visit Jogja soon, and I am considering coming in via Solo airport (Silkair flight from Changi airport). Is it easy to get transport from Solo to Jogja (and back a few days later to catch the return flight)? And if so how much would the cost be? The reason for this is that from Singapore to Jogja I have 2 options - Garuda via Jakarta or Air Asia direct. But Air Asia departure from Jogja is at 7.25 am and I'd rather not have such an early flight if I can help it. Thanks.

Hi All! I am planning to visit Yogyakarta by 27th of June. However, I don't know where should i start from and where should i pay a visit to. I'm a budget backpacker and travelling alone. I would like to go to certain places such as Borobudur, Prambanan, Ijo temple and mount merapi. Is it necessary to have a local guide there or i can go anywhere on my own by taking public transport? And i heard that it's not suitable to climb mt merapi at his period of time. I would like to try mount climbing( I've never done this before and really want to experience it). Any places to recommend? Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll be visiting Jogja end of this month so have narrowed down a few accommodations... found this guest house style quite interesting. Not exactly cheap cheap but with character (from what can be seen in yogyes website). However, can't find much info at other sites. So any info from fellow travellers would be great! We'll be travelling with young kids so a bit particular this time. Thanks!!
