Well there is the Kraton - palace, the bird market, the water palace. You could also do day trips to temples at Borobudur and Prambanan.

The Buddhist temple complex at Borobudor and the Hindu/Buddhist temple complex at Prambanan are both UNESCO National Heritage sites of extreme importance, and not to be missed during your stay in Yogja. They are both easily reached from Yogja, but go to each very early in the day, as it gets very hot by mid day at both places. Yogyakarta is one of Indonesia’s great cities. As a college town (several major universities being based there) it is young and vibrant. The Sultan’s Kraton is indeed very interesting to visit. Also, if you have an eye for real batik, there are several batik centers in Yogja where batik is still made in the traditional wax resist manner. Male or female, have no worries about your travels there being alone.

If you want to get Boroudur by public bus, take minibus from Yogyakarta city ( Giwangan Bus Station, the bus station of Yogyakarta )to Bus Station Borobudur, then by traditional transport Becak or Andong to Borobudur temple area. Becak and andong are available at outside of Borobudur Bus Station.
