I'll be in Ekaterinburg for one week in two weeks. I know it will be cold but can anyone suggest any interesting sights to see while I'm there?
You can visit the newly built monastary at Ganina Yama and the museums there.

In winter time there is an Ice Play Town in the central square. When I was there a couple of years ago, it was very fascinating architecture.

Hi the ice place will be gone by the time you arive. Jist walk atound and look, it is a nice town. You can take a excursion to the place where the tsar and his family was burried, just 30km away. Ask around or look at the VT site for adresses. See what is on at the theater, they often have good opera or ballet. And yes it will be cold.

oh almost forget go to the new cathedral you see it straifgt away, go when there is a service on a a sunday, if you love music, you well be servised with a free amasing concert

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. We had a wonderful week there and made some new friends. We visited the cathedral and also visited the town of Neviansk, about one hour's drive outside of Ekaterinburg, once the capital of the Ural Mountains. We hope to visit the monastery at Ganina Yamin on our next trip there, probably in May. Joe C.
