Yaounde Travel Answers

Do you have a Bank Account? Where are you from? Are you in Cameroon now? Hvae you previously had an ATM card ? Have you ever been refused one? This is not really a Travel Question but relates more to your personal situation and personal financial circumstances/arrangements.Perhaps you should contact a Bank or other Card provider.

Normally I would suggest checking at: mastercard.us/cardholder-ser... Unfortunately for you, there does not appear to be any Mastercard ATM anywhere in Cameroon...

Im from overseas. Somehow all my savings acct ATM are in Cirrus/Mastercard. I have Visa, but its credit card and I don't want to make a cash advance.

Thanks. I have checked. Looks there is no Mastercard/Cirrus ATM in Cameroon. I will be force to make cash advancew using my visa CC.

What sort of an answer is "I'm from overseas"? We are ALL "overseas", to other VT members...! I have a Cirrus bank/debit card - which is of course NOT a Mastercard, as that would be a credit card! - from a bank in Belgium. But I don't know whether you could "find one" with the same bank, because I don't know what banks operate in your country of residence, let alone which ones offer which types of card. Why are you asking this question in a travel forum?

@Gaminari, Is there any reason why it should not posted this question on vt forum? I am not a Camerounian who happens to be in Yaounde for two weeks period. Although, I rely much on the information on the internet, I ussually posted questions in vt forum as I get updated information from tourist that has direct information on the places. Not unless you set your own rules.

Basic VT rule - not made up by me, although fairly obvious anyway: "*This Forum is for asking Travel Related Questions Only." From the travel forum guidelines: "2 Do not post messages that are not Travel related." Where is the "travel-related" issue in "I having a problem getting an ATM card for Mastercard/Cirrus network. Does anyone knows, where I can find one?" As worded, this is a banking and not a travel question - and not even a travel-related banking question. It isn't possible to tell what relation it has to the Cameroon forum, but as you can only get a bank card in your country of residence, I would suggest asking this question in a banking forum (or expats forum, or any other forum about living in the country concerned) IN that country - not one which is designed for seeking/giving advice on TRAVEL TO that country!

YAounde I dealt with citibank branch and they have ATM machines they helps expats there Yaounde branch 487, Avenue Charles De Gaulle Yaounde P.O. Box 7324 Cameroon tel +237-22-21-27-77 fax +237-22-21-27-67 they are good and could help you or guide you there. I deal on business. hope it helps

MasterCard isn't widely spread around Cameroon a few upper-class hotels accept payments with MasterCard, but ATM's??? Next time you should bring VISA. Maybe you can try your luck at Mount Fébé hotel or the Hilton for a cash withdrawal, if the manager is in a favorable mood you'll never know. Happy travels

BTW, personally I don't think this question is misplaced. When you're traveling in an unknown country and you're getting out of cash there's nothing as frustrated as this. I thought we Vters are there to help each other instead of correcting/snubbing.

I think the member is establishing here, that he is from another country to Cameroon, therefore traveling. His personal / financial situation can be absolutely related to travel when one is traveling, don't you think? We love VT members to be helpful and friendly, in the forums :-) And even though it's not normal to obtain a card (credit or debit) during a 2 week visit, the guy was just asking. Danny VT moderator

Hi Wafro, I am staying in the Mont Febe, the ATM they have is Visa only. I also tried the ATM in Hilton and some of the ATM in the City Centre and they are all visa. I make sure I brough enough cash, but I have to extend my stay and runnning out of cash. It is right, there is no mastercard network in Cameroon. I just tried my luck. By the way, I visited Mefou Primate sanctuary and it was so exciting. The trip was bumpy but its rewarding. Peace to all my fellow vter!!!
