Day trip to Hangzhou from Shanghai

      Hangzhou Apr 6, 2014 at 6:45 PM

      Hello,

I'm on business trip to Shanghai in mid may and was considering a weekend trip to Hangzhou. To tour the west lake (mix of boat and walk), would 4 hours be sufficient? I'm thinking to take an early train from Shanghai and arrive in Hangzhou around 8 plus and to get to the west lake by 9am. Later in the afternoon, around 3pm, to catch a train back to Shanghai.

Appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thanks!

by myspices Online Now Oct 11, 2008 at 4:21 AM

Hi, Would like to visit Xitang, one of the water towns. Can't seem to see it in the Lonely Planet. I will be in Hangzhou, Shanghai and Suzhou. Could someone help on the following :-
      1) Where is Xitang?
      2) Is Xitang nearer to Hangzhou, Shanghai or Suzhou?
      3) How do i get there by bus or train? (would appreciate if the transport schedule and fare is stated to help with my planning of my trip)
      4) Do i need to pay an entrance fee?

      Thanks much for you help.
