Hi My friends and I are planning to Xiamen on this coming April 2006 And recommendations on nice beaches, food, nightlife, night market? And also must do list in the afternoon? I have heard of Gulangyu Island, how long does it takes to get there from Xiamen? Where to depart? Thank you guys in advance and have a nice day!!! REgards Sean
Sean, Gulangyu Island is only a 10 minute ferry ride from Xiamen on the mainland. It is a great place to spend the day. There is also a beach there, although we were in Xiamen in January so it wasn't getting much use, other than as a nice place to take a walk. You depart from the ferry dock to get to the Island. If you like pizza, there is a Pizza Hut right by the ferry dock up on the 26th floor of the building with a beautiful view of the Xiamen Harbor.
