Hi VT world I'm looking at visiting California and doing a circular tour via RV, from SF and around northern California next Sept.(Wineries, redwoods, Yosemite etc) Any good recommendations for tour companies to book flights (UK to CA) and good RV deals as a package? (I've done plenty in Canada using canadian affair in the past) Just looking for a few good pointers for starters. Cheers Guys and Gals
You might want to try Kayak.com, Travelocity.com for flight deals. How many people in your party? Depending on this, renting an RV may not be a good deal opposed to a car and inexpensive hotel/motel rooms. Often times you can find hotels with an inclusive breakfast. Also, having a car at your disposal to explore nearby points of interest as well as sightseeing is a lot more liberating. By the time you factor in the rental of the RV - very expensive in the Western US, high gas prices (your RV will guzzle a lot of gas), camping/hookup fees, insurance, etc. you'll find you are spending much more money than the first choice I provided you with. I just returned from a 3 week tour of the USofA and, including hotels, flights (domestic), rental car economy SUV it cost two of us under2000.00.

I agree with the motel option and I am an RV owner. By the time I pay for fuel and space rental I spend more than if I stayed in a motel and used a fuel efficient car. On the other side, there are places where you can stay in an RV where there are no motels, but you do not sound like you are headed off the beaten track. Of the places you mentioned in your post there will be motel accomodations available. You can get an idea by figuiring a motorhome gets 10 miles/gal (or less) and a comfy size car gets 30 (or more) 300 miles is120 (diesel is around4/gal in CA) for the RV and35 for the car (gas is3.50/gal), plus the RV space rental will be around30/night unless you stay in WalMart parking lots. For95/night you can stay in a pretty nice motel and the car rental is a fraction of the RV rental. If your wallet/heart is set on an RV then another alternative may be to buy a used RV and sell it after your trip. Good luck and check RVnet.com for info on RVs and/or rvparkreviews.com for info on rv parks along your route.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. Definitely seems that the car option is a better choice, thanks again for your help. :-)
