We are planning a road trip from Illinois around the southern part of Wisconsin to visit some breweries and cheese factories/makers. We will have about 5 days, leaving on a Wednesday and returning home on Sunday.
The plan as it looks now will be:
- home to Milwaukee (about 220 miles)
- Johnson Creek (about 45 miles from Milwaukee)
- Madison (about 35 miles from Johnson Creek)
- New Glarus (about 27 miles from Madison)
- Monroe (about 17 miles from New Glarus)
- Mt Horeb (about 35 miles from Monroe)
- Galena (IL) (drive home via Galena, spend couple of hours - total 215 miles to home)
Can you guys help us out with suggestions how and where to spend our 4 available nights? Probably spend 1 night in Milwaukee and 1 night in Madison? But where would you suggest to spend the other nights? And if not Milwaukee and/or Madison, can you propose a better alternative?
Thanks a lot!
5 years ago I stopped at a random hotel in Green Bay which I believe was near down town. I asked the person at check-in if there was anywhere nearby to get a drink. He kind of laughed and said "walk 500 ft through the arch." There were 5 or more bars/clubs in a small courtyard type area. After bars closed, there was even a hotdog vendor or two. I cannot seem to remember where exactly this was... Does this sound familiar to anyone?
i search cheap transportation from Madison to Wisconsni dells after 6-7 pm. please help me

Are the Racine taxi services reliable? We are considering taking a taxi from our house to the Coach USA bus stop (to go to ORD) on HY 20 & I94, are Racine taxis reliable? In the phone book are Racine Yellow Taxi 262 634-2222 and Shuttle Bug 262 554 0063. Has anyone used them. All comments appreciated. We live here and haven't used them. Thanks in advance, Chuck
Need help getting to ORD early in the morning. Have a 0600 international flight out and don't really want t o go and spend the night at the airport or get a hotel for a few hours. Van Galder's last ride is around 7PM getting into ORD about 9PM. Long before my flight. Next one in the morn is around 3am but not soon enough for my checkin and flight. I would need to leave MSN around 0200 to make it, maybe even 0130. Any ideas? I thought there was a different bus company besides van Glader, but their schedule maynot be any better. Thanks travelers
Hi, we want to hike the southern lakeshore trail this Sat. Does anybody know where the boat stops are so that we can just hike out, ride the boat back into town?
Does anyone know of a good Italian, Thai, Chinese, Indian or American restaurant? We will probably use taxis.

My husband is supposed to be planning a guys' weekend/bachelor weekend for his best friend over Memorial Day. Needless to say, he needs a little help. We live in central eastern Iowa, but are new to the area. The groom wants to do a fishing weekend up "north", but they don't want to drive TOO far (no more than 6ish hours) so they can still enjoy the weekend. They want to do some fishing and rent a cabin and relax. Can anyone recommend any good spots, towns, etc. anywhere along Lake Michigan in Illinois or Wisconsin to even begin to look??? I plan to look on VRBO or Homeaway for a cabin, but need some towns to focus on. Thanks!
Wanted to get your opinion if this 10 day itinerary sounds doable. Days 1 to 3 - Travel to Moon Days 4 and 5 - Arrival. Welcome glass of Moon Punch. Acclimation to low gravity. Meet and greet Moon-based support staff, "Moonies". Shoft, brisk walk on lunar surface. Day 6 - Longer Moon walk. Rock sample collecting Day 7 - Free day. Sende-mail using Moon computers. Take photographs of the Moon base. Enjoy a buffet dinner with other astronauts. Indulge in savory Moon pies. Day 8 - Daylong hike to "highlands" and other major craters. Day 9 - Prepare for departure. Pack souvenirs. E-mail photos. Visit clinic for preflight enema. Day 10 - Return to Earth. A little Friday fun here. I saw this book this evening at the library in their 50 cent sale and I had to buy it. "The Space Tourist's Handbook" by Eric Anderson, President of Space Adventures published in 2005. But being Virtual Tourist we should at least plan for a Virtual Trip to the Moon, Don't You Think? Happy Friday Everyone!!!!!!
Hello ! I'm a french student and I would to speak with people who lives in Wisconsin. I would like to know more on this state. What are your way of life ?... Thanks for your interest ;)
We are looking at travelling up the west coast of Norway in a rental car in late july. I have heard camping is pretty 'relaxed' .We were looking to save spending by pitching a tent. If its not private property can we just setup a tent nearly anywhere and not be bothered? I was trying to avoid paid camping spots as we are on a limited budget. Also, in july, how far north is accessible by car? Looking to then drive accross to Lapland.
I and my wife plan to go with Kids aged 6 and 3 to an indoor attraction in Wisconsin Dells Indoor parks including stay for 1 night. Many options are available and we are confused in picking the right one. Suggestions please. We will be driving down from Minneapolis.
Hey everyone. I live in NC. My boyfriend and I are HUGE Packers fans. He's turning 30 on January 8, so I thought getting him tickets to the Packers/Lions game on January 1 would be an awesome gift. Neither of us have ever been to GB. My BIGGEST fear is arriving in GB on either Dec 30 or 31, and there being a horrible snow storm and us being stuck in the airport for 3 days and missing the game. I would LOVE to be able to take him for his birthday, but am REALLY nervous when I hear that GB is referred to as the "FROZEN TUNDRA!" Can anyone give me some insight as to wether or not I am overexaggerating the situation? :-) Thanks to all who can help me!!!
Hi, We're going to stay one night near Milwaukee airport in August prior to our flight the following day. Read about various car break in incidences here and at some hotel review sites. Is this a prevalent issue? I was going to stay at the HI Express MKE. Is that considered a safe area/hotel? If not, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Hi! I'm going to be in Wisconsin for 2 nights. One night I'm definitely staying in Milwaukee...for the other night I'm trying to decide between Wisconsin Dells or Madison?? Can anyone tell me what city they think will have more to do? I'm traveling with a friend and we're in our late 20's. Or is there another city close to or on the way to Milwaukee from Minneapolis that might be of interest?? Thanks!

Hi I have a relative flying in from San Francisco to meet me to go camping for a few days. Milwaukee seems a good connection from there without having to stopover. Can anyone recommend some nice tent camping areas within a few hours drive of Milwaukee airport? Somewhere scenic with some good hiking (wildlife) and preferably showers. I don't want to make him sit in the car for too long after the flight. many thanks, Karen
I tried to call the number for Hotel Wisconsin 414 271-4900, and I got this message that the line was disconnected. Has Hotel Wisconsin gone out of business?
What transportation options other than air are there to get from Green Bay to Milwaukee airport? Thanks.
Is there any nice place to go swimming indoors with young children (a public pool with a shallow area and playstuff for kids) ?
GOOD DAY. I am hoping to fly to the EAA show this year. However, due to time constraints at work I can take only ONE day off during the July 26- July 30 event. I read they have a spectacular DC-3 line up this year.I believe they said the Monday July 26. I therefore wanted to double-check befor I book a flight to Appleton. Is the Monday generally the best day, opening day? What happens on the Sunday the day before? Maybe aircraft are arriving and I can see them at Oshkosh ? I plan to arrive the Saturday morning July 24 and leave afte the show MOnday. But any advice is welcomed with open arms. I would also like to see the Basler facility for the DC 3 conversions at the same time- does anyone know how I can talk to someone there to get to take some pics? many thanks Mike
