      Gananoque Mar 21, 2015 at 11:53 AM

We stopped at a service station and restaurant in the Gananoque area at a crossroad several months ago on our way through that area and not thinking we would be there again, promptly forgot the name/location. We had the most wonderful food--large portions, great sandwiches and wonderful pies and of course, gasoline. This is a longshot, but can anyone help with name/location suggestions.

    • Detroit to Vancouver, layover in Toronto, what the process?

      Toronto Mar 9, 2015 at 3:24 PM

Hello! First time poster, but I've used your site for answers before. I live in the US. In June, I'm traveling to Vancouver for a week. I'm flying out of Detroit on Air Canada with a layover in Toronto. I've never flown to Canada before, so I"m wondering what the process is for custom's etc. I'm assuming I have to go through customs when I get there in Toronto, but does that mean I have to exit and then go through security again? Any tips or tricks or experiences you think I could learn from? Any thing at all! I appreciate your help ahead of time! Thanks!

Niagara Falls Mar 27, 2015 at 2:57 PM

      Hi,

My husband and I are visiting Ontario for 3 weeks in October 2015. Our first place to visit is Niagara Falls to renew our wedding vows, I know rather silly but just something we want to do....hahahaha. It will only be us two and was looking for someone to take a few pictures of the occasion. Been looking at websites and we don't wish to pay the silly $1000+ prices.
Does anyone know anyone who can help?

We are also going to Coe Hill, Ottawa and Mississauga areas and looking for any suggestions for good flea markets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks

      Debbie

Niagara Falls Mar 22, 2015 at 1:05 PM

We are visiting Niagara falls the first weekend of April. As many of the Niagara falls amenities will not be open due to seasonal timing while we are there, we were hoping to take a few day trips to near by areas, kind of get a feel for Canada itself! If anyone has any suggestions as to some scenic or recommended areas to visit within reasonable driving distance to niagara falls, would appreciate any input!:)

    • Toronto city vs Niagara falls stay?

      Toronto Mar 24, 2015 at 7:46 PM

Earlier this week, I posted a question asking for tips on things to do in Niagara falls during the first week of April, since many of the amenities will still be closed due to the season. and received a lot of very helpful feedback! Now i'm wondering- would it be better to just stay in the city of Toronto, and just do a day trip to Niagara falls while there? Would there be more to do/things to see during this time in Toronto city, than in NIagara falls? Any tips or advice on things to do or see in the city of Toronto?

    • Muslim Woman visiting Canada

by bluetourist Online Now Mar 23, 2014 at 11:18 AM

Hi! I'm a young Muslim woman from Dubai, UAE coming to Canada with my brother for approximately 15-20 days on vacation in June. I've never been to Canada before so I'm really excited but apprehensive at the same time because I wear the Islamic face-veil. (Although I've heard Canadians are nice people and are more open to other cultures) Windsor is one of our stops. Do you think I'll have a problem with wearing the veil in Windsor? I understand people might be curious and stare but I don't want to face any harassment. I plan to wear coloured ones to try and blend in a little.

      Thanks! :)

by livingprayze Online Now Nov 2, 2013 at 4:55 PM

Looking for a round trip tour/excursion from Detroit to Windsor Thanksgiving week. Can't go over in our rental car due to some regulations in place but so want to visit Canada. We'll be travelling from Florida to visit family in Michigan for that entire week and would love to find a way to take a day into the Canadian side. Thought about train but not finding any connections that would work for a day trip. Also not sure about up-to-date boat/ship info.

      one way car hire

by Dean&Vanessa Online Now Aug 29, 2012 at 11:05 PM

      Hi

We are looking at travelling one way from Windsor to Niagara Falls using a hire car as this sounds a more attractive option than Via Rail via Toronto.
The only thing is that all the car hire places we could find on the internet have outrageous one way fees.
Does anybody know of a car rental company in Windsor or Detroit that has reasonable fees to get to Niagara?

      Cheers Dean

Safety in Windsor and Other questions

by sabogg01 Online Now Oct 20, 2007 at 12:31 PM

Next weekend my friend and I are coming to Windsor (We are two 25 y/o females) does anyone have a certain area that they would like to recommend a hotel as far as being safe places to stay in. We only want to stay in the safe neighborhoods, is there anywhere that we should look out for while sightseeing? We will be crossing over from Detroit on the Ambassador Bridge.
Would it be better to stay in Windsor for 2 nights or stay in Detroit and visit Windsor for a day and then go back to Detroit? We are not looking to go to casinos or to drink on this trip. Thanks for your advice in advance!

So it's my girlfriend's 21st bday January 1st, not to mention New Years, so I want to come up and with quite a few friends. my question is, are there any cabins around town, close enough that we can get to the bars, that can accommodate a lot of people, maybe up to 20, even if we are split up into different cabins, that would be fine!!! I just don't really want to go the hotel route, i want as many of us together as possible. thank you soo much!!!

      Market Buffet Rating

by windsortenor Online Now Dec 22, 2006 at 4:07 AM

I find it strange that with most of the listings in the Windsor section,11.00 -20.00 US is considered About Average, but with the buffet it is considered above average. Who sets these standards and why aren't they comparable? As far as setting these standards, I would think that a full buffet at the same price as a "special" would be a better value anyway!
