Windsor motto

by DaveMullany Online Now Oct 23, 2006 at 8:03 AM

Greetings all. This probably sounds a daft question, but does anyone know the official motto of the town of Windsor. I've tried every search-engine in the known universe and have so far drawn a complete blank. And if anyone happens to know the official motto for nearby Eton, that would be a big bonus. Grateful for any help

    Hi Dave,

I used to work in Windsor, but never knew its Motto: "The river and the land sustain us."

As for Eton, I can only find the motto of the College: "Floreat Etona (Latin: May Eton Flourish)". I don't know if the town has its own motto, but it is part of the Borough of Windsor these days.

    Regards

Isn't "The river and the land sustain us" the motto of Windsor, Ontario?

The motto of Windsor Rural Council in England is "In Counsel Is Stability".

    ooops!!

Sorry, Clifie, you are correct, of course! Although I told Google I wanted UK pages, somehow I got a North American one, which went straight to the motto!
