I live in the UK and have just finished uni and am planning on leaving my career plans for a winter in whistler. I dont know how to ski or snowboard , is it a place for beginners? also am coming on my own is it a friendly place to be? thanks Becky
it's a very expensive place to ski. i'm sure they have a great ski school. i might consider going somewhere smaller first to learn and to save some money and then go to whistler when you have some experience. when you say "winter in whistler", I'm assuming your coming for a few months.

It's not that expensive to ski but to live it is quite high. There is quite a young crowd living there (Uni age)so you will find lots of people to hang with

One of my best friend worked at Sunshine Village in Banff, which is a great place to be during winter, ski and party all the time. See his photos here: imageevent.com/rickthehope/O... He worked in the rental shop, which looks great if you want to start skiing or snowboarding as you would have access to their equipment for free! Guillaume

Here it is. If you are fit you can learn to ski. Whistler is very expensive to both ski and live in. An alternative is Vancouver. The local mountains offer alright skiing and good schools etc. If you must hang in a ski town and party there are hundreds of places in B.C and Alberta some big some small. Whistler because of the expence blows big time.

Hi Guys, im in the same boat, i finished uni a year ago so not sure if i qualify for a free visa, but im fed up of work and want to spend the winter in whistler. Problem is i prob cant get out there until nov, which is after the job fair and dont wanna end up there with no job, no accom and no friends! :-( I'm a keen skier but but would like to get an idea of some people who are going and give me a kick up the backside to have the guts and do it.
