      Skiing at Snowshoe

West Virginia Jan 9, 2012 at 1:20 PM

I couldn't find anything about Snowshoe here on VT, so I was wondering if anyone could share their experience. We usually go skiing in NC, but it's been so warm this winter we were thinking about heading up to WV. How is the skiing here and any recommendations about where to stay? Also, if anyone lives in the area, has there been any snow? We plan to go the last weekend in January. Thanks, Justin

Will be bringing a motorcoach tour of seniors to WV in June. Looking for info on things to do for this type of group. Maybe scenic drives in the Charleston area. Specifically can a drive to the New Gorge Bridge be made by motorcoach? Any other suggestions on possible scenic drives or other things to see or do will be appreciated

Can anyone tell me what driving from Bluefield to Huntington on 52 is like? I'm sick of the Turnpike and big rigs up my tailpipe. Is it all or mostly 4 lane? I would rather take a good back road any day and actually enjoy the drive. Freeway driving is russian roulette. Thanks!

West Virginia in late March/early April

West Virginia Jan 7, 2010 at 11:01 AM

Mr. travelmad478 and I are going to be heading through WV (going from NJ to just south of Lexington, Kentucky) during Easter week, March 30-April 3. We have a total of three nights to spend there, and I'm wondering where we might go. I would love to hike or do other outdoorsy things, but I'm a little concerned that it will be cold and rainy. The northern end of Monongahela National Forest (around Canaan) is kind of leaping out at me as a cool place. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I've only driven through West Virginia, but never stopped there except to visit Harper's Ferry.

In your review you mention some really yummy sounding items with a New Orleans influence and even some French specials. Just curious if you would list the chef & his credentials. I like to know about the kitchen when I visit a new restaurant. Thanx, Kathy K.

West Virginia Mar 16, 2007 at 12:52 PM

Looking for a cabin in the New River Gorge area with 2-3 bedrooms and hopefully next to the water. This will be a family vacation with the intention of seeing the sites and doing some fishing. I would like to be on a lake to river to fish, must have a hot tub too. Anyone have suggestions of places that they stayed or know of? We have looked at a lot of the brochures but you really don't know what you're getting unless you've seen it.

The waterfall that I have a picture of on http://www.forestwander.com is the second highest waterfall in West Virginia but I am looking for the highest waterfall. Also I am looking for remote waterfalls that are inaccessible by car. we like to hike out to areas that are practically untouched. Any idea or comments are appreciated.

      Charleston Jul 12, 2006 at 1:14 PM

Hi, I am considering attending college in the Charleston area, but I am concerned about the place being very small. I am from a large city and am not sure if I can get the same amenities as in a big city. Can I in Charleston? Also, I have heard that the area is very industrial and dirty, with lots of poverty? That true? Thanks. Daniel True
