I am arriving from Auckland into the Wellington Airport at 2:40 in the afternoon and want to go to the Te Papa Museum that closes at 6 pm. Is it feasible to go directly to the Te Papa Museum and have them hold our luggage? Would it be better to go to the Wellington Rydges hotel first? Would a taxi be the best way or is there a bus from the airport that would go near the museum? Karen Kohn
Hey VT members, Im traveling to wellington for a day before i head down to the South Island. I know there is the Couch Surfing website, but i thought i would try here first. Im Looking to be in Wellington next week , I haven't got an exact date as yet. Thanks Emma

This October my brother about to join his one year course at wellington for his nautical exams i wanted to know about accomodation over there. how much it will cost him if he is staying with group of 3-4 person and about to stay over there for about 10-12 months. i know it depends upon lot of factor, proximity to college, budget etc. for budget i can say its around 100-200$ per person so for 4 person i think it will be some reasonable amount. And if anyone has contact of some agencies or anybody there help him out that will great help. thx in advacne

My family will take a vacation in NZ around mid April. We will take Wellington ferry to Picton the day after arrival. Our ferry is for 5:30, but the last check-in time is 4:30. Do we need to get there around 4:00? Will we wait in long line for check-in our vehicle? Our current plan is to leave Tongariro National Park at 11:00 am. Are we giving us enought time? Any feedback is highly appreciated!
What is a good recommendation of accommodation in Rotorua or Lake Taupo ? Please advise

I am looking at taking the Interislander ferry from Wellington to Picton while on vacation. While looking at the fare structure I noticed two prices, one for "Saver Change" and one for "Easy Change" What are these referring to? What is the difference between to two fares? Thank you.
My wife and I will be visiting Wellington in February for the NZI Sevens rugby match. We'll be staying at a hotel near the Botanical Gradens and Anderson Park. We are in town but for a few days (6 days I believe) and two of those days will be full of rugby revelry, and a good amount of jet lag, I suppose. We will see Te Papa, and some other sights I'm sure. I am interested in bike tours of Wellington and the nearby area. Does anyone know of a reputable bike tour operator in Wellington? I've checked a few websites...but they ALL make themselves seem great. I am looking for some local or travelers with good experiences with bike tour companies. Sorry it's a bit wordy, my first nigth shift of the week. Thank you

I was surprised to find we get a Saturday postal delivery in Wellington. Does anyone know if post offices are open on Saturdays. Got something urgent to post and it would be a hassle to go out today and post it. Thanks if you can help.
The Wellington Metlink site is quite good but i cannot find out where or how to buy a smartcard. I have tried several corner stores and 24 hour convenience stores - no joy. It is much cheaper to have a card and at the moment I have three 10 trip cards - for zones 1,2 and 3. But like today I am going out to Eastbourne and that is zone 6 - which I would rarely go to so don't want to buy a 10 trip. And how does a smart card work? Do you keep topping it up or what? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Hi - I am looking for a nice hotel, not too expensive, close to the Bluebridge Ferry for an 8am start, also local attractions. We are keen to do the cable car. What else should we not miss, apart from Te Papa. We only have 2 days in Wellington. Regards.
Is Wellington a tourist hotspot? Is Wellington a place with masses of things to do? Is Wellington impacted by the time of the year, Winter approacheth?
I would love to go out and walk the cliffs at Makara again. I have searched Metlink Wellington but it tells me there is no public transport out there. Anyone know if there is a small local bus or something?
It's been years and years since I lived in Wellington. Has it turned into party city? Are there any all night pubs, clubs, coffee bars? What are the licensing laws like now? What does Sunday look like these days?
Hello, would anybody be so kind to tell me during which time of the year one can go to the beach/outside swimming pools in wellington? I can look at the temperatures, but I guess I cant compare them to German temperatures (at least not exactly), b/c the sun "burns" more over there, thus it's probably a bit hotter? How bad is the ozone problem, btw? thx
Maybe one of the locals can help me out. I tried to reach an outfit in Martinborough called "Wet N Wild Adventures and Tours" but received no response from them. We are leaving this morning from Alaska here heading to Oz and NZ and would very much like to reach them. Do any of you know if this company is still in business? If not,are there any other companys that offer jetboat rides and/or trout fishing that you know of? We will be renting an RV for a couple of days so we can drive a ways from Wellington. Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way! CJ
I'm thinking of visiting New Zealand, both the North and South Islands, in either May or June. What would the weather be like?
