I have been to a retail outlet (including a large antique/furniture section) with small boutiques all encompassed within an old country house (I think) There is also a substantial plants for sale section outside. This place is situated in view from a main road, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it is called or where it is. My sister can't remember either - even though we have both been there twice! But she thought it might be towards Haywards Heath? That could be a red herring though! Anyone know where I am talking about? It is driving me slightly mad!
Does anyone know the name of the shop that has taken over the traditional sweet shop. I was in there last week and would like to check to see whether something is still in stock but I do not the name to call them!
The shop always has things stacked outside and a ramp to go up into the shop. It has a vast array of items from clothing (in back right hand corner), crockery, furniture, handmade crafts and so forth. The counter is in the back left. Last time I was in there they had some lovely handmade children shoes!
Please help! :-)
We are a group of some 10 men, visiting a friend in London. We are an easygoing, relaxed bunch. Primarily interested in good cocktails and good music. Can you recommend a bar which has more or less the following features?
- Bar welcomes larger groups without letting them wait on a queue outside for years and years
- They know how to make decent martini cocktails
- They stay open late
The bar does not need to be very fancy...
Thank you very much for your help!
While visiting Southampton recently, someone told us of a wall that American servicemen wrote on before boarding their ship on their way to D-Day. Having visited Normandy on the other side of the channel, we tried finding this wall. We could not find it. Does it exist and is there a picture of it anywhere?
I'm traveling from the U.S. to Harrogate next June for a graduation at Fountains Abbey. I'll be flying into London Heathrow and taking a train to Harrogate. What are my transportation options from Harrogate to Fountains Abbey (the graduation is on a weekday evening), or would staying in Leeds give me more choices for transportation? I appreciate any advice I can get. Thanks in advance!
I will be arriving in London Heathrow, American Airlines terminal 3 and connecting to Dubai in British Airways terminal 5. I have 3 hours layover. A friend in London wants to go to the airport to see me. Where should I tell her to meet me? Will I have time to meet her?

We're planning a schooltrip to the UK, Portsmouth is the first city we're visiting, because we have our host families there for our students (age 14-15). We're trying to plan a full day in Portsmouth (a monday in March) and we're wondering what we could do and see on a budget, preferably free at charge. All suggestions are welcome!
Thanks in advance
I am looking for a nice restaurant in the central of London where I could take my parter for his 30th birthday. I would prefer a child friendly as we will be taking our 8 year old daughter. I would also like some where that would provide a little birthday cake for him so our daughter could sing happy birthday.
I have just accepted a job offer in Bodmin and due to the nature of the work do not want to live there. We have looked at many places throughout Cornwall and have agreed on Newquay. Problem is we do not know the area in depth, is there areas we should avoid buying a house? I don't want to come across as snooty but want to avoid the council housing estates and bring up the kids in a nice area.
I'm proposing to my girlfriend in Central London in February. I want to plan a scavenger hunt proposal where she has to follow clues to find me and the ring at the end. I have a list of great places in central to add to the list, but I'm conscious about the almost certain bad weather in February. Can anyone recommend places that are indoor that I could add to my scavenger hunt in Central London? This way I could make it half indoor and half outdoor. Thanks.
I'm from Poland and I'm going to visit London in the nearest time. I've bought recently tourist guide, but I want to see places which are unusually and where is silence because I have stressful job. Also I want to eat something. It can be traditional food. Could you suggest me sth?
Thanks for your help!
Hey guys !
I'm going to spend Christmas in London for the first time in three weeks and I'm very excited. However I was wondering if anyone had ideas about how and where I could spend those few days ? I would like to visit or to do non-mainstream things aside from all the "tourist" things everyone does, I'm sure there are a lot of interesting stuffs to do in London that are not well-known. Thanks :D
Hi, about 10 years ago I was in hospital in exeter. An old lady was going in to town. I needed to buy a new mobile phone and asked to go along.
When I got there I saw an amazing place, it had some old roman/Athens looking remains which were very big, and a totally different looking building, it is only the frame left, made of a sort of brown stone with small bubbly holes like a wispa chocolate bar, it was very weathered.
I would like to visit it again, but don't know exactly where it was too.
About 40 minutes bus drive from a hospital in exeter Devon.
Please help me find this place again, I have drawn a picture here;
Thank you for any help.
My parents (USA citizens) are coming in to terminal 4 at 9:40. I know it takes a while to clear security/passport checking/ immigration, and then get bags, but how long? I need to get them and get to central London by 1pm. Feasible?
Does anyone know if Watford tube station has a car park and if so how much does it cost to park for the day (both week days and Sat/Sun). Also is there a max stay, and are there generally spaces available or does it fill up early. If the latter is the case, can anyone recommend an alternative (preferably as cheap as possible) car park near to the station?
Looking for a mid price hotel near the centre/ near the Met line for a SINGLE room for 2 nights midweek in July. Not often I book a single room and see that most places seem to charge about 95% of a double!
As a frequent visitor to London and former resident I am already au fait with all of the best hotel chains and reservations web sites. Is there though someone locally who can advise a good location (or someone who has recently stayed in the area) not far from the Tube station, nor the centre, or in the general direction of Bucknalls Lane, Garston, where I will be commuting to by cab for a coupe of mornings? I am not fussy (well - travelling on my own I'm not!) but as it's a course would like somewhere that I will get quiet at night for sleep.
Thanks for your thoughts......
