Thanks to all for your replies (two day trip-first timers). I have incorporated many of your suggestions, and I can't wait for our trip. What a great forum!
It would be helpful if you put your comments on responses to your question as an "answer" to the same question, not a new "question"! When separated from the original question, your comment isn't going to show up in notices to those who answered, who might also not be looking in the specific forum you put it in, but using a more general forum than "Washington DC" (as your question also comes up in World, North America or USA).

Hi It's good to know that the responses you received have been useful. Just in case you haven't realised this, the best way to thank fellow VT members for their forum responses is to rate their responses using the 'thumbs up/down' icon at the base of each response. This is an anonymous process (the responder only knows that the response has been rated, but not by whom or what the rating was) and it helps to keep members motivated to respond to forum queries. By the way, I can say this with impunity, as I didn't respond to your query! Regards Cathy
