Canoeing to Theodore Roosevelt Island

Has anybody done this? How long does it take and how strenuous is it? We'll be there late April and strongly considering doing it.

I haven't canoed to it, but Roosevelt Island is quite close to both banks of the Potomac so I can't imagine it would be hugely strenuous. There could be some significant current and chop depending on weather conditions, so you may want to take care. Boat traffic isn't very heavy in that area so you don't have that to worry about.
