Hey there, Does anyone know if they are going to do flights in the dc3 plane for the public, if so how much does it cost and can you pre-book or do you just do it on the day? I went to the Warbirds over Wanaka a few years ago now but we paid to do a short senic flight over lake Wanaka and I would like to do it again this year. email at holysmokes_2121@hotmail.com if you know! Cheers, Bryah
Checked with my husband who knows a lot about such stuff. He was surprised not to find the DC3 flights on http://www.pionair.co.nz/ anymore. There are DC3 flights over Auckland and to Great Barrier Island. Check on: remember.co.nz/detail/s32.ht... Perhaps somebody else knows more.

Have you seen this website: http://www.flydakota.co.nz/ They even do 10 day tours on a DC 3 from Auckland (Ardmore Airport). Just checked a Sunday ride. For an adult this costs NZ$ 80.

Flights at Wanaka vary from year to year, depending on the available planes and waether conditions. As far as I know advance bookings aren't possible, you book on the day, at the airfield. I don't recall there being any DC3 flights in recent years, just the Catalina and, a couple of shows back and very expensive, one of the warbirds. leyle
