I am going to Honolulu for th first time in March. I am staying near Waikiki and was wondering where the best place to go out at night would be? I'm a single guy in my mid 20's and was hoping to be around the same age group and atmosphere. Also, is there anything I HAVE to do while I'm there? Any thing that can't be passed up?

    • Hyatt Regency Waikiki

by Dean285 Online Now Aug 27, 2013 at 5:16 PM

I have seen mixed reviews of this hotel with a lot of comments suggesting that the rooms are in major need of renovation. I currently have a reservation which is still within the cancellation window. Generally, I prefer Hyatt's because the status I have with the chain gives me some perks - although it doesn't look like I will be able to get a ocean view upgrade. I would still get access to the Regency Club. If you were choosing between the Hyatt Regency or Marriott Resort and Spa - what would be a better choice? It looks like I can get a room between 30-60 dollars less at the Marriott - depending on whether the resort fee will be charged or not. The booking site suggests it will be waived but not certain given some other wording.

    • Looking for a name of Waikiki apartments. Please, help!

by Lucky51011 Online Now Jul 1, 2013 at 7:42 AM

Hi! When we were in Waikiki last, we stayed in Outrigger Hotel. And right next to it there was an apt building for rent. We went in, looked at apartments, liked them, talked to the site manager, took his card.....and lost it. And I can't remember the name if that complex. Again, it's right next to Outrigger. Need help from someone local. We are looking to rent an apartment in that complex for a month next January-February.
      Thank you in advance!

Aside from the Okinawan Festival & the Rough Water Swim, are there any other events going on in Waikiki over Labor Day weekend?

Also, are there any good places to hear live music in Waikiki (preferably contemporary Hawaiian-style like CRSB, Maoli, etc.)?

Does anyone have any information on reasonably price condos to rent in Waikiki...we (2 of us) plan to go surfing and wish to be reasonably close to the beach.

We are currently looking at this hotel:

But, its a bit of our price range @2500 / 10 days.

Does anyone know of any condos / apartments that we could that are more reasonably priced?

      Waikiki Info needed

by Shamous1 Online Now Sep 9, 2009 at 6:37 PM

      Hi All,

We are travelling to Hawaii and staying in Waikiki next Monday 14th of September. There is 3 families (all related) consisting of 6 adults and 5 teenagers and 1 baby.

What can people suggest about shopping. Where are the bargains. Where are the value for money food eateries.

And for the guys where are the best places to grab a coldy.

What places should we steer clear of?

Basically after any advice you can offer. We will be doing the Pearl Harbour tour as I don't believe you can come to Hawaii without paying your respects.

Around the Island on "the Bus" and places to avoid

by YVR2010 Online Now Jul 13, 2009 at 6:01 PM

      Aloha ahiahi from Vancouver, Canada

Is there a single transit bus that will take you around the entire island without transfers? or would you recommend a tour bus?

Also, are there certain streets or areas of Waikiki one should avoid? (We have something called "East Hastings" in downtown that is not a nice area ie drugs, homeless etc)

      Mahalo in advance.

    • Maximum Guests in Room Limits?

by jossip Online Now Jun 21, 2009 at 1:14 AM

Aloha, I have a question on hotel room limits in Waikiki. We are planning to travel to Waikiki in late November. There will be 2 adults and 3 children all aged under 5. It would seem that the extra child is cutting down our options in terms of where we can stay. Are these limits set by the Hotel themselves or is this a legal requirement. One of the hotels we looked at has a limit of 4 guests but has 2 double beds and a pull out sofa bed. I would like to think that this would be more than enough for us.

Can anyone shine some light onto this?

      Thanks in advance.

    • Which area to stay at Waikiki?

by lambje Online Now Sep 5, 2008 at 4:07 PM

Hi, I will stay at Waikiki for 4 nights in October. I'm not sure which area is best to stay in: near Fort de Russy beach park or Kuhio beach park. I need to choose between hotels Castle Maile Sky Court and Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel. I read that the beach near Castle Maile Sky Court is the nicest beach area, but I think all the action is near Kuhio beach. Is it a long walk from Maile Sky Court to Kuhio? I would like to stay near a beach area where I can rent a surfboard. It would be great if anyone could advise me on this. Thanks!!!
