Hi again, What parts of Vilnius should one see to make the acquaintance of the areas which are populated by ordinary and low income people? Is there a district that is particularly poor? Do not get me wrong I will of course see the churches, museums and other fancy stuff also but that is not all of Vilnius I guess. Thanks, Martti
Dead easy. Find a Green bridge ("Zaliasis tiltas"), it is here: cert.litnet.lt/conf/18tfcsir... , and walk north down the street of Kalvariju. Walk or go 1 or 2 stops by trolleybus (exept No 12 and 13), then turn left. It's a shanty town, now turning into something civilized. Walk thru the new buildings and soon you'll see a normal and real Vilnius ;). You won't be lost as those new "skyscrapers" are visible anywhere. And if you walk on westwards, finally you'll come to the one of the main streets anyway.
