We'd like to hear suggestions for good restaurants in Palma or close by. There used to be a place with a name something like "1931". Is it still there?

      Alicante Sep 23, 2015 at 1:04 AM

I've travelled on the C6 bus from Alicante airport to Alicante bus station. However to get to the airport from the bus station should I get the bus coming from the airport to Plaza Puerta del Mar? Will I have to pay for two journeys: one from the bus station to the terminus at Puerta del Mar, and another from Puerta del Mar to the airport? It seems that the return journey to the airport doesn't stop at, or near, Alicante bus station.
Thanks very much for any response you are able to make.

    • Dinner and party tips!

      Ibiza Sep 20, 2015 at 1:07 AM

      Hi everyone,

I'm flying to Ibiza tomorrow and very excited (Ibiza virgin)! Unfortunately it's one of those places that I know nothing about and whenever I try to do some online research I'm overwhelmed by the amount of divergent information available. So I thought I would ask my trusted VT community that has never failed me before :-D

I'm basically looking for tips for unique/impressive restaurants (something with a spectacular view for example) and fun "Ibiza-style" parties. My hotel is close to Platja d'en Bossa beach.

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions!!

Let's get this party started :-)

Is it always windy in Calpe ?

      Calpe Sep 13, 2015 at 5:25 PM

      Hi guys
We were in Calpe in May 2014. We really loved the place ... but the wind !!!!!
It was really strong most days and got particularly cool in the evenings.
We knew evenings can get cool at that time of year, but we weren't expecting such strong winds and to be honest it took some of the enjoyment out of our holiday.
We're thinking of going back in June 2016 and I was wondering if we can expect the same or is the weather calmer in June ? Maybe we just hit a bad week in May 2014 ?

I hope so because we really liked Calpe and we'd love to return.

It seems most of the sites we plan to visit are in the south part of the island but we will also have a rental car. Please advise economical hotels/apartments which are near a beach, and within easy access to a golf course.

    • Cruise Ship on a Sunday

by lud016 Online Now Jun 20, 2015 at 12:13 AM

We will be on a cruise ship and making two stops into Vigo port.
One stop is on a Thursday (17/9), our second call will be on a Sunday (4/10).
In trying to plan our day we will probably take a tour on one of the stops (Vigo, Bayonna & Galician coastline). The second stop we "will wander" around Vigo.
Considering a cruise ship is in port will everything be open on a Sunday or should we make our "free" day in Vigo on the Thursday.

      Porto to Vigo

by Elgreco77 Online Now Feb 6, 2014 at 2:08 AM

We arrive in Porto in early June and stay 2 nights there before taking the train to Vigo and then Santiago. We understand that we can't prebook the train. We would like to be absolutely certain of catching it as it's essential to our plans. We will have a spare day before we catch it and can go and book then. Does the train tend to get full? We are both senior citizens and want to purchase tarjetas doradas on arrival. Can we purchase them in Porto or just in Spain?
Finally, we have 3 nights in Santiago and 3 in La Coruna, we plan to hire a car there and visit some of the more remote places. We then have 3 more nights before returning to Porto. I'm torn between Pontevedra or Vigo, or both. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

by AnnieSue59 Online Now Jul 15, 2011 at 5:15 PM

The Man In Seat 61 website says ".... take [an] express train called the 'Camino de Santiago' right across Spain, departing Irun at 08:45 and arriving Ourense 18:30, Santiago de Compostela at 20:02 and A Coruña at 20:35. A portion of this train attached at Miranda de Ebro is detached again at Ourense and goes to Vigo, arriving at 20:06. "

My husband and I have tickets from Irun to Vigo on the above train, for next Friday (22 July 11). Can someone please tell me how we can get into the right part of the train before it reaches Ourense? Will we we able to simply walk through the train (after Miranda de Ebro, of course)?

      Hope someone can advise. Thanks.

      Travelling from Vigo to Porto

by igcoldicott Online Now Apr 19, 2009 at 2:27 PM

I'm going to have to travel from Vigo to Porto in three weeks' time. I've looked at the options and would appreciate some advice. It seems one option is the take an Autna bus from Estacion Autobuses, and there are several departurues each day - presumably no need to book ahead. The other option is to take the international train, which runs twice a day. There are details and prices the Portuguese railways web site on but I can't find a way to book it, and I'm not even sure it's possible to take this as a Vigo-Porto single journey, as it's advertised as a day trip to Vigo. I can't find any reference on the Spanish railways site to these trains atall. Can anyone help?
And having said that, would I be better spending more time in Porto and not bothering to spend half a day in Vigo? I will have four days in Porto.
