I want to spend 2 or 3 nights at Vigo while my son starts a year at the University. I am just looking for a cheap bed and breakfast. Any suggestions welcome.
Is there an early morning train from Santiago de Compostela to Vigo, which connects with the Vigo to Porto train? Thanks
The Man In Seat 61 website says ".... take [an] express train called the 'Camino de Santiago' right across Spain, departing Irun at 08:45 and arriving Ourense 18:30, Santiago de Compostela at 20:02 and A Coruña at 20:35. A portion of this train attached at Miranda de Ebro is detached again at Ourense and goes to Vigo, arriving at 20:06. " My husband and I have tickets from Irun to Vigo on the above train, for next Friday (22 July 11). Can someone please tell me how we can get into the right part of the train before it reaches Ourense? Will we we able to simply walk through the train (after Miranda de Ebro, of course)? Hope someone can advise. Thanks. Annie Sue
I am going to stay with a Spanish family near Vigo. I am staying for 6 weeks. The address is Sayanes and I can't find much information on places in this area other than the beaches. Information on Vigo city would also be great! I do not drive and would love some information on public transport. I would also like to know where would be good to meet people in their early 20's. Any replies would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to be a loner for 6 weeks!

I'll be up this way towards the end of September, coming from Portugal and returning that way. There doesn't seem to be much backpacker accommodation in Vigo, a HI hostel and a University affiliated hostel. Are there not many travellers coming here? I was thinking of staying here and taking a day trip to Santiago de Compostela. Or should I just go straight to Santiago? What would you recommend for 3 days in Galicia? I will be using buses and trains. Thanks in advance.
I'm going to have to travel from Vigo to Porto in three weeks' time. I've looked at the options and would appreciate some advice. It seems one option is the take an Autna bus from Estacion Autobuses, and there are several departurues each day - presumably no need to book ahead. The other option is to take the international train, which runs twice a day. There are details and prices the Portuguese railways web site on cp.pt but I can't find a way to book it, and I'm not even sure it's possible to take this as a Vigo-Porto single journey, as it's advertised as a day trip to Vigo. I can't find any reference on the Spanish railways site renfe.es to these trains atall. Can anyone help? And having said that, would I be better spending more time in Porto and not bothering to spend half a day in Vigo? I will have four days in Porto.
