Planning a Laoag-Vigan-Pagudpod for our Wedding Anniversary

by jhean22 Online Now Dec 5, 2011 at 7:18 AM

Hi everyone, hope someone can help me patiently. Jan. 22, 2012 will be our 1st year anniversary, me and my hubby are planning to celebrate it in Vigan. We are planning to start travelling on Friday night, Jan. 20 (would that be okay?) and will be going home on Monday morning, Jan. 23. Can anyone give me a good itinerary for the said date? which would be better for the budget of 10k for both of us, by land or by air going to Laoag? We are both newbies so I will really appreciate your help. We don't want to avail tour packages because they are very expensive. Thanks in advance!

You have two full days to do your travel. I'd go for a bus travel considering your budget. Travelling at night would be a very good idea. There is a similar discussion already on a 2 full day itinerary in Ilocos. Please check the following link: VT Forum temporarily unavailable

thanks! would it be ok if we only travel by ourselves? I mean without any tour guide with us? We want to explore the place without time limit.

Of course you can do it without a tour guide. Public transportation is readily available (buses, jeepneys and tricyles). This was discussed also in the link I provided.

Hi, welcome to VT! You have a very tight schedule, only Saturday and Sunday to play with. For your 1st wedding anniversary, I suggest you spend your Saturday in Saud Beach,Pagudpud. You can just laze and swim there, or if you want to maximize your time, instead of having siesta after lunch, you can go for side trips to Burgos and Bangui. You can go over the VT Travel Pages on Pagudpud, Burgos and Bangui for transpo & things to do tips. Sunday, you can opt to pass by Laoag before going to Vigan, see the Cathedral and the sinking tower. If you're not so in a hurry, visit the Paoay Church which is a UNESCO Heritage Site. There are other tourist spots in Ilocos Norte, but skip it for now. When you get to Vigan, explore Calle Crisologo (it's beautiful at night), the Plazas (try the empanada). Monday early morning, squeeze in a trip to Bantay Church & Belfry and Baluarte before you check out of your hotel and head back to Manila.

Early morning Saturday proceed to Laog whole day tour and spend night By Sunday Morning Proceed to Pagudpud. Sunday Whole Day Beach and Rest Monday Explore the Pagudpud. Depart Pagudpud 6pm of monday. Bus from Pagudpud bound to Manila leaves at 6:00PM Daily and if im not mistaken last trip leaves at 7:00PM Check out my Pagudpud Solo adventure for some details in Pagudpud raymondcunanan.multiply.com/...

That is a very tight Schedule and a very tight budget! One of the reasons why Ilocos travel package is expensive is that it is really expensive to travel in Ilocos. Hotels are not really cheap so are the restaurants and transport. Your budget could actually suffice but you will have to do the tour the fun way not the convenient way and I suggest you limit the places you visit. If I were you this is what I am going to do: 1. Take a bus from Manila to Ilocos, air travel will cost you around half of your 10K budget. "Florida" have a very competitive rate! 2. Find a cheap Accomodation.Try the small hotels around Batac to Laoag, don't even think about the nice hotels because the price will definitely surprise you. You can try to find a place to stay in Batac near the town proper so you can enjoy the street food at riverside food plaza in the evening or spend some time in one of the bars in Caunayan if night life appeals to both of you. 3. Limit the places to visit. Day 1: - Saud beach is good but I find it over rated! - If you really want a great and peaceful place I suggest you spend time under the Windmills! Many people go there but they don't stay long so you can have the beach for yourself! However transport can be an issue. - You can have a quick trip to Cape Bojeador light house and Kapurpurawan white rock formation (I love this place more than Saud beach!). - You can spend the evening in Batac, Laoag or San Nicolas ______________________________________________________________________ Day 2: - Marcos Maosoleum - Paoay Church - Try some of the local food (Herencia's cafe is a popular choice but it is damn expensive! try somewhere else.) - take a bus to Vigan after your lunch and visit Baluarte and Pagburnayan Vigan. If you have time check out the church in Bantay. You can Hire a Kalesa to tour you around. The last time I took one was for Php150 so it should be around that much) - Spend the evening in kalye Crisologo and Spend the night in Vigan ____________________________________________________________________ Day 3: - nothing much to do but buy pasalubong on your way back to Manila. Talk to the driver to drop by the popular places where you could buy! __________________________________________________ My sister's assessment is that 6K is the minimum price for a descent ilocos tour. If you have questions you can email me at dadis.pen@gmail.com I will be more than willing to help you out! I was born in Bantay Ilocos Sur and Raised in Batac Ilocos Norte so I should be able to help you in some way.
