We will be visiting Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City next year by cruise ship. I know this is not the best way to visit a country, but because of physical limitations it is the most practical method for at least one member of our group. I also don't like tours arranged by the ship – they are usually rip offs and not too interesting. I understand that the ship docks 2 to 3 hours away from the cities. Does anyone have recommendations for a tour guide or service that will pick us up at the ship and take us into the city and provide a tour and some sightseeing. We will probably stay overnight in at least one or two of the cities, rather then return to the ship. Any idea about what this might cost? I would appreciate any help or comments you may have. Thanks.

were traveling vietnam on May 1, i take a medium size suitcase because i can't wear a backpack and we will be traveling around the country by public buses or train

Will be in Phu Quoc in 3 weeks and we are staying at Cassia Cottage. Can someone tell me if you can walk to the night markets from here? Also my hubby & I wanted to hire a motor bike - semi or automatic . Is it better to hire one each or should I ride pillion. I have ridden in Hoi An hinterland before. Where is the best place to hire and the cost per day? Also where can I get a map to ensure that we can ride around the whole island without getting lost? Any other tips would be most appreciated.

I have already prepaid for my accomodation in Hanoi. The staff member that arranges the tours through the hotel is also a travel agent. He told me that I could pay by cash or credit card when I check-in or check-out of the hotel. After supplying him with a date of when I would like to go on the overnight Halong Bay trip, he has now emailed me a form and wants me to fill in my credit card details. After what he has told me before, do you think this sounds odd? After all, I will be checking into the hotel 5days before the scheduled Halong tour and can pay him by credit card when I arrive. I definitely won't supply him with my credit card details via email !!!

I am travelling to Hanoi soon and would like to know where I can buy nail art decoration products in particular nail foils and nail foil adhesive? In Australia I have only found one place that has a huge range and I would still have to mail order it so I thought I'd wait and see what Hanoi had to offer. Most travel guides discuss beauty salons but I do my nails myself. I am looking forward to my trip because I've never been there.
I am also considering the 2 Day 1 Night V'Spirit Classical Cruise for my husband and I due to the excellent reviews on trip advisor. What do other VT members suggest as we only have a budget of around $100 per person for that ?

Where to hire or take a motorbike tour near Hanoi?

Myself and the girlfriend are heading to Vietnam in June for two weeks. One of the main things i want to do is tour the areas around Sapa, or Ninh Binh (or any other areas people recommend!) by mo-ped/motorbike for 2-4 days. The guided tours seem relatively expensive when considering the cost of simply hiring a bike.....So are there any areas that people have ridden around and felt comfortable on bikes without using a tour guide? Or would you suggest taking a guided tour, if so, which are the best companies to use and how much? Thank you!! :D

Day 1: morning half to My Son ruins visit and check out hotel after the visit. Travel from Hoi An to Hue.
Day 2: Hue visit
Day 3: time 1745 train from Hue to Ninh Binh

Question:
1. I wish to travel from Hoi An to Hue by using Hai Van Pass and Marble Mountain. What options do I have and the charges needed?
2. If no engaged with private tour, can i rent a motorbike and tour around in Hue?
3. any itinerary suggestion for me based on the limited days in Hue?

I am trying to plan my holiday and would like to have your opinions on my draft itinerary..especially I would like to get comments whether it is feasible in terms of time and also what place would you include or eliminate.
So here is my rough idea at the moment:

-Day 1, Arrival to HCMC visiting the city and day trip to Cu Chi tunnels.
-Day 3, Visit to Can Tho , floating market and return to HCMC
-Day 5, flying to Hoi An via Da Nang. Visit to My Son and Hue
-Day 7- Flying to Hanoi and visit to Halong Bay. 3 days
-Day 10 Flying to Na Trang /Mui Ne,Visiting around and train back to HCMC.
-Day 13 HCMC and Flying out

Also did you ever fly with Vietnam airline? how did you find it?

I want to check out the Mekong delta in end of May. Love photography and want to explore the floating markets and life on the Mekong. Can Tho markets are an early start so i know to head down the day before.
My question is do i book local tour for two nights in Can Tho
or get local bus and own accomodation?
