hello friends... I will be using the international bus from downtown vientiane to udon thani which I understood is a direct bus and I would like know how long would the bus wait to allow passengers to do the immigration/stamping and will they allow us to leave our baggages in the bus....thank you
They wait until everyone has gone through immigration. I took this route last year, and I seem to remember that they let you leave your baggage on the bus, but am not certain.

Hi I took that route in December. Worked out great! You just leave all your belongings on the bus when you go through immigration. However, if you are going to catch another bus from there to somewhere else have some thai money on hand. We didn't and almost missed our connecting bus to Bangkok.

Hi...thank you for the great informations. I also wish to know wether the bus is always full and I understood you can only purchase the ticket on the day you want to travel and is there any way to do it in advance so that seats would be guaranteed. thank you

In the past, you could only reserve a seat on the bus on the same day or morning of any one of the 6 daily departures BUT in November, they said that you could only reserve a seat a couple hours before the bus left.

We had to get to the bus station at Talat Sao really early. There was a number of people who did not make the first bus as it sold out very quickly. I would recommend being there very early! If you want to leave on the first bus.

Thanks for the informations...so if I were to take the 9.30am bus what do you think the best time to be there and do they have specific ticket booth there...thank you
