Does anyone know if we can rent a car in Vienna and take it to Bled Slovenia, and Split Croatia round trip and what rental car company would allow this? Thanks.
Unless someone has already used a Viennese company they can recommend, you will need to contact and check with individual car hire companies. Slovenia is in Schengen and will not be a problem (although you may anyway need to pay a premium for taking the car out of Austria). Croatia is not in Schengen. Google for companies and email them to find out the options and the cost.

I just phoned the intl. car rent in Israel. They said that I can cross from Austria to Slovenia only with Europcar. I didn't ask about Croatia. There's to pay 35 Euro + taxes for additional insurance, no matter for how many days. I guess it doesn't matter from which country you come.

Your own citizenship is entirely irrelevant, as you say. But you must ask specifically about Croatia. Slovenia is in Schengen, as I said, so it is no problem..paying a supplement for taking a car outside the country is normal. But Croatia is not in Schengen, and you may well find that companies do not allow their cars to be taken there at all. You will need to contact each company directly to find out their policy.

I agree with leics. Within Schengen, it's no problem - you most likely will only have to pay a supplement to drive outside the country of rental (I had to do this between Spain and France). More serious problems are involved if driving to a non-Schengen country. I was considering driving my Austrian rental car to the Czech Republic but decided against it when I realized the cost and bureaucracy of doing so. BTW, the problem is the validity of insurance, not the fact that you take it to another country per se.

The Czech Republic is in the Schengen Area now...has been since 2007.
