We have chosen to stay at the Ibis Mariahilf next month and do breakfast on our own. Is there a cafe very close by/just outside the hotel where we can have something early in the morning before we head out to town? And what of a full evening meal- again, close by? Thank you!
I completely understand your wish to be prepared for a trip to an unknown city/country. I am the same, planning and researching in an effort to same time and have some bits and pieces in place when you arrive. Please keep in mind that one of the joys of travel is the thrill of discovery. When you arrive at your hotel, go out, explore the neighborhood; find the local cafes and restaurants. Chat up the desk staff for their suggestions. I love going about my vacation this way. Cheers!

It depends what you want for breakfast, at the new west train station nearby is a whole range of places where you can get some thing fast, there are also traditional coffee houses nearby, expect slow ervice and continental breakfast and good coffee, Café Westend for instance, Mariahilfer Straße 128 / Guertel, athmosphere is better then the food there (and every piece of bread you have will be on your bill). For diner there are a lot of Restaurants in the area, one of the few Indian restaurants in Vienna: Rani, Otto Bauer Gasse 21, is no far away.
