Vienna in June 2011.....Hotel Options

by hockeynut16 Online Now Apr 4, 2011 at 9:24 AM

My wife, son (17 y/o) and I are going to be in Vienna four nights in June. We will be traveling to Slovakia after that to see our daughter who is on youth exchange and then end our trip in Budapest. With so many hotel options, what might be a few good choices for our stay. We want to be close to as much as possible but reading some of the posts, it appears to me that you don't have to be in the heart of the city because of the fine public transportation. Any and all suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

I stayed at the Hotel Stephanie at Taborstraße 12, which was slightly out of the central Vienna area, but only a 5 minute walk to the tram/metro station at Schwedenplatz and another 5 minute walk to Stephensdom. The price was very good compared to staying closer in to say the Opera house and the hotel is nicely kept. And the breakfast included was lands in my top 10 list. Consider the 3 day pass while in Vienna (transpo and discounts on museums). I paid for mine in only 2 days use. Karl

We stayed in Best Western Premier Kaiserhof of Wien. It is outside of the ring, but a couple of minutes walk to a tram stop. The train station is not too far away (I think 2 tram stops). We actually walked to the train station (where we became victim of a pick pocket). Vienna Hotel Tips by lifeisatrip Good luck on your search for the right hotel. Enjoy your trip!

The family-run pension Dr. Geissler is located in the very heart of Vienna, between the Stephansdom and the Franz-Josefs-Kai, offering excellent connections to the public transportation system. The city centre, with its numerous sights.
